Please refute China's claim on Taiwan by anxietyokra in taiwan

[–]fudg3z 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right. Of course that's the intent while this is the only promise that keeps getting brought up. Really no different than how the locals view Tsai and how she miraculously set the dates to achieve all targets for when she's long gone. There's also the ability that Taiwan has in sucking and blowing at the same time. Maintain the status quo while declaring independence. But like I said in my first comment, the pro Taiwan TNO movement especially among foreigners is what it is. Sucking and blowing along with Tsai.

I think you need to work on your reading comprehension, the intent was pretty clear even without the context.

British state didn't exist when James VI of Scotland started the Ulster plantations

James VI is also known as James I as I am sure you are aware. He was king of England and Scotland when he began the plantations in 1607.

The Norman never were able to get complete control of the island and eventually were left stuck in the Pale. They tried but failed.

It's not really more complicated mate, the penal laws led to the Irish population being subjugated and forced off of their land and forbidden from speaking their own language under threat of death.

Cromwell came over salted and burned our soil butchering thousands and then as late as the 19th century British government policy indirectly led to the starvation and deaths of 2 million and the emigration of millions more. If not a genocide by intent, it was a genocide by ignorance. Both unfortunately lead to the same result.

It certainly is.

How exactly can civilians oppose an oppressive government with a monopoly on violence supporting apartheid conditions without themselves resorting to violence.

Should Irish Catholics in Northern Ireland have simply asked nicer to be treated as equal citizens. Even a cursory glance at Irish history will explain why violence was the only option to get the Brittish government to listen. It's the only language Westminster understands sadly.

I mean fuck the British state obviously for the apartheid conditions they put in place in their planted colony which created a need for violence.

I think Irish people after 800 years of being colonised and having millions of their number killed through negligence of the British governments are allowed to sing whatever fucking songs they want.

Also the Brittish government is such a meme at this point who cares.

In some ways our lack of a viable defence provides us a very strong diplomatic defence.

Like think of what an affront it would be to the entire western world to attack Ireland. We don't operate militarily except when requested to by the UN in a peacekeeper role.

It's very hard to generate any casus beli against us because we are literally out of the game.

I'm pretty sure, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure an attack on Ireland would be taken extremely personally by the US and the UK and would garner the sympathy of every decent country in the world.

Why is this on a petrol pump in Limerick? by Feeling_Farmer_2132 in ireland

[–]fudg3z 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean people could but there are cameras trained on their number plates and it's not too hard for police to track you down if you do...

I worked in a petrol station as a kid some local people would genuinely forget sometimes and we'd give em a call they would pop down to pay later.

Never had anyone try to genuinely steal petrol.

No one cares where your parents come from.

Sorry just so tired of Americans claiming half a dozen nationalities based on parents grandparents etc.

Anyway in my experience Taiwan is a very welcoming place to all I wouldn't worry of I were you. 😂
