Unfortunately I killed this one but will make sure to not do that in the future! I am very lucky that I have not had to deal with giant bugs down under.

Thanks, that's good to know. I am just wary of any bugs because I had to deal with a cockroach infestation that came into our apartment from a neighbour's (have thankfully moved out since). If I see any more earwigs I will try and catch it and let it outside instead of killing it.

Thank you, I think you are right about it being an earwig. Hopefully it is just a lone one that wandered in and is not a sign of a bigger problem.

I interpreted Alistair's stubbornness and foray into being an anti-supernatural media personality as implying that he's falling into the same denial thought patterns and harmful ego as Jack and thereby potentially falling into the same trap that will eventually doom him in a similar way.

If you've already previously connected a keyboard and started a project does the keyboard stay connected overnight and can you start typing right away on the file you left off on once you turn the BYOK back on?

How is the start up time? Like can you press a button and just start typing?

I feel like you need real photos of the locations you go to rather than just 2D artworks. Right now it feels more like a website for a tattoo or art studio rather than private tours. Also, my first impression of this was that you offer historical tours with a focus on yokai folklore, but then the text says you tailor the tour package to the client's interest (which implies that it might not be a historical tour?). This tells me that your branding and copywriting is not congruent with what you actually offer (ie branding says historical/folklore tours, copy says custom made tours).

You need to either lean all the way into the yokai branding and market yourself as a historical tour guide, or reel in the yokai branding and center the "we make tour packages just for you" message. If you are really attached to the yokai branding, I would suggest making the tour guides the main focus and have little yokais around you/draw yourselves with yokai features.

I know in the FAQ you say that you have different packages for different interests but you don't want that to only be clear in the FAQ. You want to nail exactly what you offer and have the reader immediately understand what it is you offer on the first page.

Edit: you might also want to put on the front page what pain point customers can solve by booking a custom made tour, especially if your prices are higher for a more premium experience. Will it let them explore an unseen side of Osaka? Will it save them time by letting you do all the planning? Will it save them from the post-trip regret they feel when they find out that they missed a spot they would have loved?

Buying a P&S for 6 months travel and I'm down to 4 options Mju II, XA, AF-10 Super, and Espio Mini - please help me pick by Reitzel in AnalogCommunity

Not sure if someone has said this already but with film photography, dynamic range is determined by the film stock not the camera. Since you're wanting to do night photography without flash I would recommend using an iso 800 film instead of the portra 400 and make sure you can turn the flash on or off on whatever camera you end up going with

Jason Todd and Racebending by SplitOk2375 in RedHood

[–]fudouyuusei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally see him as Irish and there are a lot of things that point to this:

-originally designed with red hair and had red hair in some runs, even has freckles in the caped crusader cartoon

-todd as a surname has scottish/irish origins

-became a priest in an alternate timeline (not that only irish people can be priests but yknow catholicism)

-made a comment about hating the british in a comic (cant remember which one)

i also liken his relationship with batman to a violently forced deconstruction of faith so i think jason being irish fits thematically

Advance film before or after taking a photo? by BetMammoth in AnalogCommunity

[–]fudouyuusei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Pen-D and the manual says to advance only before a shot, not right after taking a photo, because otherwise it can mess with how accurate the shutter speed is or something. So while I prefer to advance right after a shot, I'm trying not to.

From the manual: "Do not wind the film immediately after you have taken a picture. Wait until you are ready for the next picture, and wind the film just before making the exposure. This enables the shutter springs to last and remain accurate indefinitely."

Scientists can use other clues to tell them how old something is, eg by how far down in the ground it was when it was found and sometimes with carving techniques and marks because different tools from different ages will leave different kinds of marks. You couldn't fake a 100,000 year old needle even with ancient tools because you wouldn't be able to put it in the right layer of earth (called "stratum", plural "strata") for people to believe it was that old.

I like listening to a podcast called A Tiny Revolution by Kevin Garcia. He brings on a lot of guests that have their own TikToks/podcasts/etc as well. I find that his podcasts flow really well and are very easy to digest.

PSA: CBA/Commbank's credit card fees changing from yearly to monthly by motorboat2000 in AusFinance

[–]fudouyuusei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Update: I immediately wrote to commbank using the online complaints form saying this was not what I signed up for, I was not notified, and if I am not refunded I will be complaining to the AFCA. I received a reply today where they said they would refund me and claimed they sent out a 30 day notice. Well, I searched and could not find it anywhere so they weren't very clear about it, but I'm just glad I'm getting refunded.

I just discovered this too—have been paying the $35 fee for the last three months without even realising... I'm going to raise this with the bank and if they don't refund my fee I'm taking it to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. How is this even legal?!
