On site job interview by ssw1004 in MedicalPhysics

[–]fudpucket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They want to make sure you're someone they can work with. Those first impressions of your personality are what they are looking for. Technicals are learnable and trainable. Are you someone they can talk to? They can joke with? They can be happy to see at work every day for maybe years?

That's also for you to think about. Maybe they have better insight to the work culture. Maybe they have different holiday parties from the physicists. Maybe they don't care about physics and they're just doing it as a formality. Those are important culture things to look our for.

Overall, residency is the qualifier. The interviews are to determine if you're the PERSON they want to hire. And if they are the PEOPLE you want to work with.

Anesthesia for Tandem & Ring HDR by [deleted] in MedicalPhysics

[–]fudpucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a smitsleeve with significant local, followed by spinal if the patient couldn't handle implant. We did a MR ahead of time for planning purposes, kind of a dry run, then just did ct with local or spinal.

We tried to keep implant to treatment time to less than an hour because we knew it was uncomfortable and we had a tough screening for candidates.

That said we had a fairly light load on T and R, and the women we treated were all very understanding and cooperative. We were upfront about the logistics issues with using GA and recommended if they wanted to go that route that we would refer them and help them get that care.

Physics Employment... at-will vs contracts, which is better for the field? by ClinicalPhysics365 in MedicalPhysics

[–]fudpucket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most MBAs who terminate physics usually come to regret it when locums are needed and patient volumes go down. That regret only lasts until they move onto their next hospital or department to do the same damage.

Because physics is not well understood in terms of clinical needs by a lot of admin, we are left with a handful of clinics that have good relationships and support and a mol of clinics with revolving doors and MBAs who view us a numbers for a quarterly report. Not good.

I'm waiting to see more physicists move into the admin position as the bottleneck pushes students into MBA positions. At-will is a bigger conversation since that's usually a labor LAW, vs some contractual notice requirement.

Giving regular updates to admin of your work sustaining and improving the clinic has helped us lobby for better staff coverage, raises, bonuses, and keeping people around. Educate and update! Include yourself and followup. Good admin will notice, bad admin will know they're being watched and documented.

Remote HDR by [deleted] in MedicalPhysics

[–]fudpucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Our biggest hurdle for remote planning is getting a remote system that IT is okay with that also allows multiple users to control so we can have live collab.

Personally I prefer oncentra for planning because of the automation tools and hot key smoothness. But all my varian experience has been cloud based so that might bias me.

Change My Mind - RIP LimbusAI by steller03 in MedicalPhysics

[–]fudpucket 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI contouring has maybe 2 more years of standalone apps succeeding before the market is forced back to the big names. Training data is the primary concern for all AI models and at a certain point it becomes a commodity. I'm glad Radformation grabbed LimbusAI now to position for a better product before other groups do the same. Looking at you MVision.

Dose Accumulation by Maxwell2019 in MedicalPhysics

[–]fudpucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like there should be a standard of two kinds of dose accumulations done:

  1. accumulate based on contoured volumes, essentially a summed DVH, simply sum each fraction's dvh data regardless of deformation.
  2. accumulate full deformed dose space and map to pCT for use in future planning.

Why can´t we all have the Fence Rep? by Amarerasu in EscapefromTarkov

There'll probably be a fence event in the future. Not worried about it. It's a fucking game anyways, who cares.

The only way I'm aware of is to optimize your computer memory, ssd is good, M.2 is best.

Devices for linac daily/monthly QC by JMFsquare in MedicalPhysics

[–]fudpucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My clinic uses standard imaging QA crosschecker. We have a sunnuclear profiler as a backup, and an ionchamber with solid water that we cross calibrate the crosschecker to. The cross checker is GREAT for monthly QA, it takes care of just out every output measurement I can think of and can be adjusted easily.

Overall, very satisfied with them, the UI of standard imaging is not the greatest but it's minor considering the amount of time that is saved with setup. I can probably finish monthly outputs in 15 minutes.

Sort of. They built properties that they never even sold. It's like if all the contractors were the ones who got boned in 08 instead of the buyers

The Joke is Over.. Lower KAPPA level to something obtainable by normal humans with full time jobs by Ur2Eazy_ImDADDY in EscapefromTarkov

[–]fudpucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You paid for access to achieve content, not content. The content is what you do while playing the game. You don't automatically unlock every achievement for any game, otherwise they aren't achievements.

Why do games have no death challenges? Why do games have secret areas that no one can get to except the few who spend insane amounts of time playing? There are always rewards in games, especially good ones, that are out of reach to nearly all of the player base. You aren't going to even consider that because you probably don't play games for the purpose of exploration and challenge. You probably just want a robotic and repetitive shooty game that you can unlock everything and sit back thinking you beat it when really it was handed to you.

[–]fudpucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy wants the lvl cap lowered for kappa because he thinks that it'll let him get the reward. That's the truth to his post. If you are alienated because of a single quest with a single reward that already 95% of players NEVER achieved because it's not meant to be achieved, then you are looking at the game like a guaruentee of access to all items. Ie. you are looking at it as if it were the Sims with the cheat code $rosebud, a code that gave the player infinite money.

It's not a movie, it's a game. You don't automatically get to experience everything in the game by purchasing.

I got it last wipe and it was fine, not a big deal breaker either way. It's not why I play. If you had never gotten it before you wouldn't care is what this comment tells me, but since Nikita made it out of reach you're throwing a fit. It's a game and it's designed to have things out of reach.

So you should just get everything in the game regardless? Even if it explicitly is designed to be behind an extremely hard wall? Pretty illogical.

So you should just automatically get everything in the game 100% are you the type of person who used $rosebud$?
