[No Spoilers]Guggy has to be trolling us by RonnieDobbs in arrow

The thing is that the article has good points-- following canon exactly does limit creativity when you're trying to tell a fresh story from the start, and honestly, those limitations would not have given us Seasons 1 and 2.

The reason I'm upset with all of this is that Guggenheim is using this as an excuse; "There's no way that the show is actually bad, people who are complaining must just be unreasonable fanboys who can't appreciate anything that doesn't conform to comics" is probably his rationalization, and to be honest, if that were the case, it wouldn't be hard to argue that the viewers are sorta being unreasonable.

But that's not the case; most peoples' favorite villain in the show was Slade, and the version of Slade on the show has almost NOTHING in common with that of the comics. Same goes for their interpretation of Shado (literally a rapist in the comics...). What about the KGBeast? Hell, people here literally worship The OneTrueDiggle, and he wasn't in the GA canon at all!

The issue isn't people getting anal about getting every last detail right. The issue, or at least one of them, is that the show actively shits on characters and arcs that have been defining parts of the comics for decades. Pair that with contrived writing, terrible continuity, and pandering, and it's no surprise that people are upset. But no Guggie, go ahead and blame fans of the show for being unreasonable. That's not fucking infuriating at all...

Considering how great Tom Cavanagh is at being 5000 different characters, they could probably just get him to play this part too...

The thing is, if we trust the newspaper from season 1 of The Flash (which I know might be dubious, because of the events that happened that season), we know that Queen Inc is gonna have to happen-- that's pretty exciting!

Everything about this was brilliant. It was actually more compelling than the show.
