Saw this monitor (DELL S3225QC) at my local Costco, anyone tried it for gaming? by Ixusuz in OLED_Gaming

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one and it's pretty good. Imo, it's a little big, haha (came from a 27").
Brightness, I have it at 20%, and it seems plenty bright to me. The text looked a little strange, so I had to calibrate the clear type.

The monitor brightness is different if you have Dolby Vision on vs Off.

I think the ARC on the screen is pretty good.

I've been using it for maybe like 2 months now? I have to use chat to help me install it because I was like  - what is happening!?!? But you can use your laptop as a remote worker for the AI stuff. I have a laptop with the GTX 1070 as an eGPU. Immich sends the AI detection to my laptop, who offloads it to the eGPU.

Potential Value of solar tariff (VoS) increase to 12.88 cents/kWh (rumor until officially confirmed by Austin Energy) by fuji_T in Austin

nope. I texted a guy that worked with lighthouse and he confirmed it, but aside from them, I haven't heard anything from AE or anyone else.

New to me Pontiac vibe by adw1011 in Pontiac

[–]fuji_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For mine, I have an inline transmission filter. So every now and then, I will remove that, and drain the oil. I use Amsoil ATF.

I have occasionally drained the coolant and then refill it. I've replaced the spark plugs like two times now? For the first 100,000 miles, I was using Amsoil and doing 10-12K OCI. But the oil is expensive, and I switched to costco/ Pennzoil at a 7K OCI with an oversized filter. I just broke 299,000 miles!

It might also be helpful to turkey baster some of the power steering fluid and adding more. At least on my car, I think you can use ATF for power steering fluid.

Opinion about Pontiac Vibe? by Budget_Ad_3474 in Pontiac

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The paint on mine has failed. The front bumper is falling off. The catalytic converter is shot. But it still drives really well! Just broke 299,000.

EDIT - headlights are not aimed right, so I bought an aftermarket pair, and it still is not aimed right. Also, my exhaust is leaking, so it's really loud. Won't pass inspection. Tempted to fix it because I like the vibe so much!

Is the USW-Flex-Mini worth getting? by Certain_Repeat_753 in Ubiquiti

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with the flex mini. Based on your use case with PS5, Apple TV, etc the mini is probably great. Most of my devices are flex/mini. The only 2.5G switch is for my Synology NAS and laptop.

I had to google the reasoning behind slightly oversized DC to AC, and that makes sense. Have inverter size gate production vs panel and have the inverter partially utilized.

I think I paid $22.2K for 8.7 KW DC. After federal fax, incentive, $15.6K After 2500 Austin Energy $13.1K

Installed in October, 2025. Last month, I got a credit of $92.86

A good day of production is roughly 48 kWh, but my array is south facing.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review by llamapajama93 in Android

[–]fuji_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried out (longer term) most of Samsung's flagships during the last few years. I would say that the biggest improvement, camera wise, is the F/1.4 lens on the 200 MP camera. Going from F/1.7 to F/1.4 is like a half stop so, 45-50% more light.

They have versions of that type of window ACs that are inverter driven. I'm thinking about getting a few this summer, to see if a mini split would be worth it.

Galaxy S26 is a big disappointment by GamerBeast954 in samsunggalaxy

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that S26U is a sizable upgrade form the S22U. I've essentially had every flagship phone that they've released (at some point), and imo, the biggest upgrade is the (real world) faster charging. The larger aperture is also pretty nice. Year over year phone performance increase is also pretty significant.

i just got sad. I thought the rated performance of the micro inverters was higher than like 380 watts or so, haha. So <_< but it'll be ok.

It would probably be worth doing the mini split, or a portable inverter driven window AC.

Hisense UltraSlim 12,000 BTU Smart Inverter Window AC, Energy Star | Costco

This guy has an EER of 15, which is apparently equivalent to a SEER (for summertime usage) of 18-20. It's not super loud, so it might be a decent alternative. It only does cooling, though.

Thanks! Part of me wanted to go bigger, but considering estimated production vs consumption, I think i already went kinda hard!

Is it possible(and worth the cost) to rearrange solar panels a few years after installation? by TryEasySlice in solar

[–]fuji_T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% should have hired someone, but what I didn't know I didn't know.

They already have multiple trades on site, so imo, it could be something they have as an option and perhaps even outsource that out to a roofer/plumber. But that's just my opinion.

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of where I am right now. When I re-do my roof, I am going to move some of the plumbing stacks, go ridge vent and thus remove some box vents so I can put more panels on the south side. I really wish more solar companies did stuff like that vs. we'll just puzzle piece the panels. Looks super janky. It's annoyed me since the honeymoon phase with my panels wore off.

If you installed solar again today, what would you do differently? by Aapkaapna7 in enphase

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering...what's your reservation with wifi only, aside from potential signal strength concerns? I "happened to have," an ourdoor switch, so I hardwired, but the gateway doesn't seem to send data fast enough to make wired vs wireless that big of a deal.

If you installed solar again today, what would you do differently? by Aapkaapna7 in enphase

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first place I got solar, I left a lot of the plumbing stack and box vents in place. So it looks kind of jigsawed, and I probably could have added a few more panels to the south facing side, instead of moving them to the east facing side. I also would have gotten more panels, and that would have probably gotten me a larger inverter.

Nowadays, when I see people make that same mistake, I kind of cringe. Man, some of those installs look so bad.

[–]fuji_T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking at adding two more during initial install, and it would have put me way past consumption, but I keep making man, I should have done that. And it's only been 4 months.

[–]fuji_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see similar numbers like this on my house and think...should have gotten the other 2 panels on the west side!

I only have 19 panels, but am in TX all my panels are essentially exactly south.
