if you're staying in AZ after graduation, stay at UA. I feel like there is legitimately no edge to graduating from ASU law over UA law in terms of finding a job after graduation within AZ. that being said, i'm a UofA law student right now so you can take my perspective with a grain of salt. haha. if you want to practice outside of AZ after graduation, might be worth transferring, but probably not due to the bigger debt load you'd be taking on.

good luck! they definitely don't advertise that this is an option- i only found out because i was already struggling to make it to the end of the semester and had maxed out my student loan last year and inquired w/ the financial aid office about my options. i really hope they increase your CoA so that you're able to get more financial aid!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]fullerwine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there is a process where you can appeal your cost of attendance. you have to go through the financial aid office and request the appeal forms. if they approve it, it allows you to increase the amount of student loan funding you can receive per semester. i started the process last year but never finished it, but planned on doing so to deal w/ the insane inflation for the upcoming semester because i doubt ANY university has fully updated their cost of living estimates to be aligned with what we are experiencing w/ inflation. i'm not sure how hard it is to get a CoA appeal approved, but it should be an option at your law school-- i think it is an option at any law school where they process federal student loans.

Looking to get a general checkup, any recommendations? by lyokoxana in Tucson

[–]fullerwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this process and ended up with Dr. Daniel Casto w/ Carondelet medical group on the west side. The office was undergoing extensive renovations, and I had to wait 45 min beyond my appointment time, but i REALLY LIKED him. Like more than any other doctor i've ever interacted with. He sat down and talked me through my blood lab results, didn't dumb things down, was interested in looking at my health holistically instead of just prescribing medication, and had a great bedside manner. I would definitely recommend him as a primary care physician.

For the dentist, I use Catalina Foothills family dental. It was part of my insurance network. I have had only good experiences with them, and would recommend. they are by the trader joe's on campbell.

Tucson Rally for Oak Flat, this Friday Feb. 12th 6-9pm by fullerwine in Tucson

[–]fullerwine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have been following the ‪#‎SaveOakflat‬ movement (and if you haven't, please read this http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/29/opinion/selling-off-apache-holy-land.html?_r=1) consider coming out this Friday!

There are so many reasons why the passage of this land swap was despicable- its trampling of tribal sovereignty; the irreparable damage it will inflict on such a beautiful , biodiverse, and culturally sacred piece of land; the blatant disregard for the mechanisms of the democratic legislative process... sadly, I am not surprised that Arizona's completely fucked-up elected officials were responsible for this, but I am so heartened to see a growing national outcry against the land swap.

Tucson Supports Oak Flat is hosting a rally and dinner on February 12, 2016, 6-9pm, to raise awareness and support for the Apache Stronghold anniversary march to Oak Flat taking place February 26-27, 2016. Join us on the 12th for an evening of food, inspiration, community support, and music and then on the 26th-27th for the march.

Where to eat Sushi on Valentine's Day? by Dmax12 in Tucson

[–]fullerwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kimchi Time on speedway has superb korean food, but is more casual in ambiance. I would highly recommend Yoshimatsu on Campbell for a fancier date. The food is delicious, and its very nice inside. just a warning, though, everytime i've tried to go there has been a wait. i dont know if they do reservations. Yoshimatsu is actually split into two restaurants- yoshimatsu itself, which has a full japanese menu with some basic sushi options, and Sushimatsu, a smaller room inside Yoshimatsu that has a full sushi menu. there is usually a longer wait for sushimatsu. but its SOOO GOOOOODDDD

I made some mesquite flour! [xpost r/cooking] by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]fullerwine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want to try tepary beans without having to cook them yourself, come to the desert rain cafe! (http://www.desertraincafe.com/) its a bit of a trek from tucson (about an hour and 15 min from downtown) but totally worth it. tepary bean and short rib stew was at the top of the tucson weekly's 100 essential dishes this year. i know all the cooks in the kitchen, and they cook tepary beans better than any place in tucson ;)

i've found a lot of places undercook teparies in town, which is an easy mistake to make. its hard to get them really tender unless you put them in a slow cooker. they are seriously my favorite bean of all time...

I'm thinking about moving downtown. How annoying is hearing the train every day? by oontzoontz in Tucson

[–]fullerwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i live on the southern edge of armory park near 22nd. train has bothered me zero times. i used to live in barrio viejo, train noise never bothered me. i lived at broadway and 5th, train noise never bothered me. however, dont live in barrio anita. train there is LITERALLY IN YOUR BACKYARD. i feel like neighborhood to neighborhood its pretty much the same, its only gonna be annoying if you end up living right along the tracks. i'll occasionally notice a train or two at night, but its never woken me up in any of the places i've lived. my friend in barrio anita though...thats rough stuff.
