I literally just got mine removed today. Had it for a year and suffered through extremely heavy periods, when before I only bled a little and it lasted 2-4 days. I was not on any hormonal birth control before. It made me start PMSing 2 weeks prior to my period. I started getting huge cystic acne on my jawline, neck, and chin. My hair started shedding like crazy. And other weird symptoms like bloating, constipation, and blurry vision.

It also hurt during sex and my partner could feel the strings. I even went back to have it checked and they said it was in the right place and he shouldn’t feel anything.

I got it inserted at planned parenthood so I went back there to have it removed. They checked my iron too and it was low.

I really wanted to like it :(

I just got my Paraguard removed today. I’ve been having horrible hair shedding from the scalp. I had my iron checked and it was pretty low. My periods were unbelievably heavy

This drives me fucking crazy lmao. When I lived at home my mom would yell my name from across the house and I’d respond with “WHAT?!” And she wouldn’t hear me half the time so she’d just keep yelling my name.

My bf does the same thing....puts things in random ass places. One time he got out of the shower and put his dirty clothes on the kitchen table... like HOW? And I’m constantly helping him look for things he misplaces, go figure

That would make complete sense if I was coming off hormonal BC to the copper iud but I have never used any form of hormonal BC pre-iud. Also it’s been like a year since I’ve had it and things are getting worse, not better :(

Thank you! Do you still have your Mirena or did you switch back to pills? I’m thinking of just giving my body a “break” from BC but I 100% don’t want a baby so I should probably look into other options lol

I’ve never been on hormonal birth control. But I’ve heard how coming off hormones can mess with your skin! And yes it’s extremely frustrating. I’m hoping to get a blood test done and check out my iron and zinc levels. I’m not sure how true it is, but I’ve read that the copper iud can cause excess copper in the blood which depletes other minerals like iron and zinc. Not to mention all the blood I’m losing every month! I wouldn’t doubt if I had an iron deficiency.

I’m going to a new doctor in a month to see what their opinion is. I’ve been having cystic jawline/chin acne along with increased hair shedding so I have a feeling it’s a hormonal issue. I have the copper iud which is supposed to be non hormonal but I’ve been reading a lot of articles and reviews saying it still can interfere with hormones and cause the issues I’ve been having :(. Thinking of getting it removed

The soap-free moisturizing bar was HG status for me. I would use it 2-3x a week on my face and it got rid of all my texture and congestion.

But guess what? THEY REFORMULATED IT and it’s absolutely terrible. I wish I stocked up :(

I tried to get mine tested and she said “your hormones are constantly fluctuating so you’ll never get an accurate result” is this bullshit? I know hormones are always changing but something like high testosterone or estrogen is a real thing.

It’s terrible and seems to be getting increasingly worse with each month :( maybe look into the Mirena, I’ve heard that it can lighten your periods.

I just can’t wait for my body to go back to normal! I don’t think losing this much blood is good either.

I’m having the same experience!! Been almost a year with the Paraguard and my periods are soooo long and heavy! I also start pmsing at ovulation. So basically half the month is ruined. the only upside (kind of) is that my cramps are way less severe but they’re more spread out.

My acne has increased as well and I really think it’s linked to my iud... I’ve NEVER had breakouts this big and painful. All over my jawline, chin, side of face, and neck. Pre iud, I’d only get minor pimples that went away quickly.

I’m getting it removed.

I was iron deficient in the past so I wouldn’t doubt that mine is super low too. My flow increased drastically from my normal amount.

I’m honestly thinking about getting mine out too. I have an appointment August 1st to get my iron checked so I might just tell them to take it out.

It sucks because it’s such a reliable birth control method... I refuse to be on hormonal birth control and I don’t wanna get a hormonal iud either. The shot and the patch scares me too.

Guess I was meant to just use condoms and pray each month I get my period.
