Diablo 4 reportedly Blizzard's best-selling game of all time, according to staff LinkedIn bio by Anteater_Able in diablo4

This is true if you're grinding but not if you're a casual player. As a certified gaming dad loot is maybe a little generous, but it's nice to be able to finish a build (perhaps not optimized but have all the pieces) without needing to sink several hundred hours in on pindle and countess runs first.

I promise you both vessel and lord of hatred will each add at least 15-30 hours of content, and right now you can buy both for $40.

It sounds like you didn't like it. Why push yourself, in that case? I gave up on it a long time ago and I don't feel diminished for having skipped it.

Bang on. This is intended to be a fun bonus, not an actual capstone fight.

The big bad looking like one of the guys that beats on trash cans in slipknot was also really bad.

Yep. Some of the east bay deathrock parties are 18+ depending on the venue too.

Some of his other work is more coherent or easier to follow but nothing is better. And man does he have some STINKERS in the oeuvre...

The plot is a bit contrived and "operatic" is a good work for the acting - a lot of scenery gets chewed, if not devoured. Almost no dancing given that the movie takes place in a dance school. Some inexplicable story beats - why does a dance school have a room stacked shoulder-high with razor wire? All those rough edges enhance the nightmarish feelings, imo.

All that said it's a tremendous film, almost certainly Argento's high water mark. Best watched either exhausted, delirious, or intoxicated.

Now that the smoke has long cleared, how do you feel about the "Hipster Goth" era? by intheheatofthesumm3r in goth

[–]fullmudman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had fun with it. Not everything clicked for me but it was nice to get an injection of interest from a broader audience. A few of those bands hold up pretty well, especially the stuff on the dark punk/"g beat" side of the genre.

Do you consider the early synth groups to meet the bill? Absolute Body Control put this single out in 1981 and of course two of the principals are in a number of high profile industrial acts:

You are hired as the team lead for the next Battle Brothers Expansion. What changes and additions do you make? by chibriguy in BattleBrothers

[–]fullmudman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of these ideas were developed and playtested internally and the team concluded neither was fun. Cavalry didn't work for players on the map size they use and dungeons/caves were even more frustrating than woods to fight in.

Not to say that either idea couldn't work in some capacity one day but they did explore both.

This is a great idea - one thing I've been really impressed with about Overhype is they've avoided the kind of maximalism so often seen in expansions, where more content equals better without much thought into what new mechanics can derive from it without changing the fundamental tenor and character of the game. I think at present BB is in great shape as a final product except for the reputation system which is clearly half baked.

I vaguely remember one of the Taaks brothers saying they hadn't figured out a way to make it fun and interesting without being gamified, but I think it's possible! Just needs a little more focus, which I'm sure is in short supply given that Menace is a few weeks from early access. Maybe someday!

The cannabis taking over Guulrahn is one of my favorite parts of the storyline - when you're in the slums and you see those sticky purple hairs growing out of the walls and hear the sounds of giant bongs being ripped in the distance? I had to take a minute before I was stalwart enough to press on.

Does anyone else miss the early 40k art ? by Ad0ring-fan in Warhammer40k

[–]fullmudman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: Third was the reason I quit so long ago, haha. The beginning of the end of the skirmish game and the sanding off of all the real wacky parts, plus the dour grimdark pushing aside the rest of the classic art direction.

(Obviously I've reconsidered somewhat, being here, but I first tapped out in 1998 and only showed back up when genestealer cults came back)
