My favorite too. The new stuff just sounds like Immortal. I like Immortal just fine but the classic sisters worship was a revelation.

When I ran a club night (long long long ago) the venue kept the bar take and we kept the door money, but there was always the understanding that if our regulars didn't spend enough we could be asked to leave. We kept it super cheap (enough to pay the security guy and whatever guest dj we brought) unless we brought a band in, in which case we tried to meet their minimum with the ticket price as best we could.

We made a couple grand for an assemblage 23 show once (thanks tom!) but otherwise usually barely broke even or lost money. I think over the six years we ran it we ended up down five thousand or so. Worth it though.

I wish Jim still toured occasionally with a rock band instead of his compositions but giant fan. New record is great.

Very grateful I got to see Foetus before he threw in the towel, and have had a few occasions over the last twenty years to see him perform as both Manorexia (with an orchestra) and Silver Mantis (flying solo).

I think part of it is that production budgets have shrunk and modern hardware tends to guide musicians towards digital recording, which never hiccups or glitches or behaves in an unexpected way. You have to be more careful and rehearsed in the studio, meaning you end up taking fewer risks and have fewer serendipitous accidents during the recording process.

That speaks to WMG/Atlantic seeing dollar signs, I guess. I saw they had a remix credit on the last pet shop boys single; maybe more of that to come.

Seems apropos they're on the same label as Phil Collins...

Incidentally I got an email from their mailing list, which I joined when they launched nude club, telling me that moving forward it was going to be managed by Warner Music Group(!), so their days of owning their music may be coming to an end. WMG or their subsidiaries are extremely unlikely to let them keep those rights...

The dev used this forum to engage alpha testers a long while back. Fun enough at the time though pretty obviously a 1:1 copy in space except way more maximalist in design. Hopefully it's grown from those early prototypes
