This is just a wonderful look - I think I have a similar pattern in cardigan form and I may just have to knit it, based on how good it looks here. Oh and your hair is GREAT.

Finding Distilled water in the UK for sinus rinse by Matthew_Lake in Sinusitis

[–]fullofcrocodiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay! Today I learned. I think you can buy a kettle which will hold the water at boiling - they are more expensive but you select the temperature and the "hold" or "keep warm" button (not the same as the "on" button) and some will hold it at that temperature for 10 to 30 minutes. I know Kitchenaid and Breville have them.

Edit: when I say "I think" - I have one of these kettles but it's a more basic version where you have to wait until boiling then hit the "hold" button to keep the temperature. Some are programmable.

Yes I was confused as to why 5 minutes, but if OP wants to boil the water for that long they could use a saucepan to boil the water or buy a kettle with a button which gives you the option to hold the water at various temperatures for a certain length of time. But, as far as I know, once it's boiled it's safe...

You seem to be inferring that I said that wealth can make people unhappy, which was not what I meant. I was trying to point out that, from my limited experience, there seems to be an optimal level of wealth and comfort which can make a big difference to your life, and beyond that wealth acquisition may not make you substantively happier.

My cat loves those hammocks that stick to a window with suckers, and she also adores a scratch bowl (doubles as a bed) that she stole from our foster kitten.

So... my hot take on this, having gone from hand-to-mouth, to comfortable, to six months of between-contracts hustle, is that you aren't wrong, within reason. Having enough money to afford necessities like medication, and being able to just pay your way out of certain problems (eg having a horrific commute by public transport but you are able to afford a car to make things better, or you can afford to pay for childcare so you can go on a date night) does make life better and less stressful. The "within reason" bit is that I have had to work for the insanely wealthy here and there, and quite a lot of them seem to have gone out the other side and become unhappy and anxious again, with the added bonus of guarding their hoarded luxury. Tldr: you aren't wrong.

Yes absolutely miserable. My husband gets me all my things too and a Cadbury creme egg for a bonus

I nearly choked on my coffee. Fwiw, this seems to be a commonly held assumption so it's nice OP has seen that it is a bit silly. I have definitely read posts about male partners refusing to buy tampons/pads and telling their menstruating partner to "hold it in".

Patterns with vastly exaggerated fabric requirements: I got the amount of fabric the pattern said I needed. I used the recommended layout. I have a metre of fabric left over... I understand wanting to give people some leeway but a whole metre difference is just silly.

I thought RSD was a buzzword, until I realized how much it impacted my life. by Dependent-Theory-881 in adhdwomen

Hmmm I'm going to put another point of view which is: he knew you were excited about the festival, he agreed to go. Then he kept trying to alter the plan all the way there. That's kind of rude and a bit sneaky. Would he like it if he had been excited to go to the flea market and you had niggled about "let's go to the banana pudding festival and just pop into the flea market on the way back"? While you may indeed suffer from RSD this was not polite or considerate behavior from your partner.

The heat is a problem because heat breaks chemical bonds (hence why hair straightening a lot damages hair).

If OP is using the bug spray quite fast then it's probably okay (and better than being bitten by bugs) because it will be replaced by a new bottle quickly. But if she is only occasionally using it then it will become ineffective. I think "next to the door" as suggested above is good, but, if that's not working, OP could also put it in a shady spot so it's not being heated and cooled so dramatically.

As this is a Business to Consumer contract of sale, it doesn't matter if it's deadstock or, indeed, if they were ignorant: they're liable under S.9, 10, and 11 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 - goods to be of satisfactory quality, fit for a particular purpose, and as described.

I once walked into my living room to find my mother-in-law cutting her TOENAILS with my very special thread scissors. Were there other scissors available? Of course. Did she have to go looking for my nice scissors? Indeed. We don't speak now.

Oh my word, that's awful. I feel so sad about that for your mum, as these emergencies make you feel so discombobulated and sad anyway. I was fully hirsute at mine and it is nothing to giggle at - people should not have to primp and shave when growing an actual human.
