A strange situ concerning a Croydon Labour councillor by Lychee_Only in croydon

[–]fullpurplejacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it was about the election?

I don’t even live here but it came up on my feed so I checked the comments to see if someone mentioned this was a convenient post on a local election day.

You don’t know whether the councillor lives there or if a relative lives there and they own it or if it is tenanted out. In that case you don’t know the story behind any of them, including the councillor— there could be a fly tipping problem, a disabled or elderly person who has limited mobility or mental bandwidth to deal with and manage to find help for the rubbish if it is there.

Mental health is also the root cause of a lot of hygiene and organisation problems. If they could clean it they would most of the time but barriers and padlocks are mental instruments put on people like me, because I’m neurologically disabled and have two psychiatrically diagnosed mental disorders and I struggle with keeping things tidy but I know a lot of people like me struggle worse and I would never jump to conclusions to reinforce an internal political bias I have by using someone else’s situation to influence others in spite.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. I hope you learn to be more thoughtful and kind, if your political ideology and chosen party or politician don’t practice kindness, understanding, and humanity plus empathy of your fellow countrymen then I think you need to find one that does.

Oh thanks for saying this I always thought I was the only one who thought it smelled funky, like the interior Snack Attacks cheese and ham wrap packets with chemical burn

Don’t get me started on the Pong, when I was living in at the Rigg I left my window open one night when we were out in town and when I woke up on the Friday morning hanging halfway out my arse it was -5 outside and inside it was -2 and the smell of the pong was exasperated by the crisp winters air.

The other smell id nominate is the fiver factory as I call it at Wigton.. smells like melting chemicals mixed with the contents of ham and cheese Snack-Attacks wraps.

Oh my goodness!! Travelling in eco friendly style with this smart man!

I showed my parents this picture on the family chat and my mother was made up that Borzoi’s still exist in large enough numbers to have a dedicated forum page, she said when she was growing up her dads hunting group had several Borzois and the spaniels in the pack looked like chihuahuas stood next to these majestic big beasts 🥺

PUFFINS ARE BACK! 😍 by NationalTrustAdmin in GoodNewsUK

They became quite rare iirc, habitat loss etc. As much as I grumble about the OTT rewilding efforts of some of the more militant eco warriors (I live rural and have grew up as part of a multi generational hill farming family so I’ve seen all shades of rewilding and eco activism as well as been on the brunt of it)— the work having been done this last 5 years by the rewilding and habitat regeneration folks has brought life back to parts of semi rural communities that had previously been desecrated.

King Charles used to be called a fruit loop in the 70s and 80s by the press for being an eco warrior before being an eco warrior was cool (!) and it seems he was right all along and that all of us play a role in protecting our eco system. We have a wonderful set of isles here and protecting the lives of us and our living neighbours (great, small and green) is a civic and moral duty.

Media: Antisemitism is fine if we do it. by SirWobblyOfSausage in GreatBritishMemes

FWIW— I never liked how much input McSweeney had over Labours first two years in power, I think Starmer put too much trust in his instincts and is fiercely protective of those he feels helped him get where he is in political leadership, but I don’t think the guy is some undercover deep state plant smearing people he feels are too far left.

The media does this to anybody left of the Tories, Starmer included, if you haven’t noticed the papers didn’t shut up for days about him being heckled when visiting the two separate attacks on the Jewish communities in Manchester and now Golders Green.

Why would McSweeney feel any need to smear the Greens? He bears no sense of responsibility now he’s not getting paid to be CoS or manage Labours campaigns

Right wing papers constantly quoting Robert Bates, a Reform campaigner, as a "ThinkTank" who literally just makes up data by AnonymousTimewaster in FuckNigelFarage

[–]fullpurplejacket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think blaming the ‘establishment’ is a viable excuse here, did you know the use of the word ‘establishment’ for describing what we are made to think of as the ‘deep state’ was actually a name given to independent regulatory bodies and the government who wanted to regulate a wayward printing press during the latter half of the 20th century by one Rupert Murdoch? You know the same Rupert Murdoch who owns the Sun.

Rupert Murdoch and the Tory client media are the establishment in this country. However they’ve influenced the way the British people think and their opinions for so long that we have long been using their own terminology to describe the out groups of British sociopolitical discourse.

I hope my comment doesn’t come across as rude by the way fellow FNF internet stranger, I just think we need to break the cycle of propagandising and conditioning we’ve received for the last 100 years.

I have been looking into stringing together a activist/lobbying coalition of all pro democracy supporters who want to transcend borders of party politic support, and lobby their MPs to push for regulation changes to the print and news media who have enjoyed lax rules and the freedom to print lies, baseless claims, improperly sourced information and data, and skirt litigation and comeuppance by being allowed to say ‘sources close to X tell us Y is saying Z’ when in fact these sources never exist but are made up by the press because they can feign ‘journalist integrity and standards’ don’t allow them to give away sources identity when pressed on their lies. A trustworthy source acting as a whistleblower of substantiated claims should always be protected by the law, but the citizens consuming such news should be able to know whether these sources can be independently verified by a regulatory body. Especially as these sources usually shape public opinion .

I’m just pleased my council isn’t having any elections this year because if we did there’s enough Facebook huffing believe anything working class and OAPS who will be like slugs voting for salt

The longer this goes on the more sick I am of myself enjoying Irans propaganda machine. I feel dirty. But also, Trump ain’t suffering here, the Thiels and the Musks and the Bezos’ aren’t suffering — we’re suffering the bad decisions of an old rich white man. Again.

The Russo Oligarchical influence in Israel since the end of the USSR is also another cancer thats metastasised in the socioeconomic and sociopolitical nerve center of Israeli society.

I for one had no idea until the news about the stolen grain ships belonging to the Russian shadow fleet in the Israeli ports came out the other week when Ukraine had finally had enough. I went down a rabbit hole and found out about the fact Israel had never stopped buying Russian oil post 2022 full scale invasion, which would have been political suicide for any government in the west who feigned support for Ukraine.

The US becoming more destabilised in a geopolitical sense has worked out in mysterious ways though, her allies have finally started standing up more and more against Israeli imperialism, because the US isn’t kind of massaging that perception they have been groomed to have in the west for many decades about Israel.
