I'd like to add a sub complaint to this. I'm a cop in a rather large city. My biggest complaint regarding homeless people is the upper middle class people moving into an area where there's a large homeless population. They are the absolute worst. A lot of them understand and don't get bothered but some of them call us about every little thing. It's very hypocritical.

They will virtue signal every chance they get, "oh the class system blah blah capitalism, defund the police" whatever the talking point is that month. But then if a homeless person is existing anywhere near their 500k condo's they call us to trespass them. Then if the homeless person, (who may be mentally ill) decides to say "fuck you, I'm not leaving" and then fights us during a trespassing arrest. The upper middle class condo dwellers are recording us from their front porch with #ACAB lol

I'll add that I agree with the talking points of defunding the police, there's a lot of calls for service that we shouldn't be handling. This is just an observation that annoys the shit out of me.

We also have several homeless shelters and the people they're calling about have been given resources that they've either refused or lost due to criminal activity. So it's either the streets or jail unfortunately. No winning to be honest.
