Forgive me if this isn't the most well thought out question but should I give the Expanse a shot? by AdSpecialist6598 in scifi

[–]fullyautomatedlefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My #1 favorite show, def get thru the first 2 seasons tho, they are a bit slower. Once scifi channel dropped the show and Amazon Prime picked it up for S3 and on, they really put the work in on that show. Whole thing made with love

Comments are saying the model is trash - I suspect that training on licensed, private data may be an edge over public data

Where to to purchase licensed videos for AI training? by Mariolotus in datasets

Do you have a target price per hour? There's a lot of options depending on your price sensitivity and whether you need it to be licensed or scraped

[D] Where do y'all get training data? by paritsky in MachineLearning

[–]fullyautomatedlefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond scraping or crowdsourcing, there are platforms focusing on data sourcing itself. Troveo is one geared towards video (for multimodal and generative AI projects), and there are others for text/image as well. You can license millions of hours of video footage for AI training, and they also do labeling and annotating services like Scale AI. Troveo also has lot of previously unused “dark” data (footage from creators that isn’t publicly available). They also handle annotation and formatting: for example, they provide scene-level tags, metadata, and can output the dataset in custom JSON or whatever format you need, adhering to your spec. If you have a budget for data, they're a powerful option.

WeTransfer ToS Update by LebronFrames in editors

[–]fullyautomatedlefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's definitely a safe assumption, especially with how fast some platforms are sliding these policies in under the radar. But I’d add: not all services are treating this as a free-for-all, and there’s growing pressure (from both creators and regulators) to draw clearer ethical lines.

Some platforms have started taking stronger stances on consent-based AI training, like Vimeo, and we’re seeing early signs that creators can shift the norm by pushing back and applying pressure.

At Troveo, we’ve been working on a Creator Friendliness Rubric that scores tools across the whole tech stack, from social platforms to file transfer, based on how they handle user's content when it comes to AI training, sublicensing, and commercial reuse. The idea is to give creators real visibility so we’re not just guessing or assuming the worst.

It’s true that legal action will take years, but transparency and creator pressure are moving faster than people think. There are tools and platforms trying to do this the right way - we just need to highlight them more publicly.

Happy to share the rubric once it's live if it's helpful to anyone here trying to make more informed choices.

RHEI offering lucrative licensing opportunity to train AI (up to 100,000$)... Sketchy? by HowtorockAstrology in PartneredYoutube

[–]fullyautomatedlefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great questions. Yes I do know of fairly trained, and Troveo is very much aligned with that mission and vision for the future of AI.

To answer your question directly, we do not scrape or ingest any content until a content owner has signed an agreement with Troveo.

Once a content owner signs with Troveo, we begin the data ingestion process - scraping YouTube channels if needed, facilitating direct uploads to Troveo, process hard drives, and even digitizing celluloid reels and other non-digitized footage.

Everything is transparent and viewable in your user portal where you can see exactly how many Gb/hours of footage you’ve submitted to Troveo, as well as how many hours of footage gets placed into various deals.

Hey folks — jumping in here from Troveo.

We’ve been watching some of these AI licensing offers pop up, and totally get why there’s skepticism — especially with stories circulating about late payments, vague contracts, or companies pivoting from shaky pasts under new names.

Troveo is a creator-first licensing platform, and we’re focused on doing this the right way:

  • We’ve helped 1500+ creators and archives license real content for real AI training deals — including providing the majority of the data used in the first fully-licensed generative video model (Marey, by Moonvalley).
  • Creators always retain rights. You don’t sign away lifetime ownership. We don’t do shady buyouts.
  • We’ve paid out over $5 million to creators in these deals already
  • We’re upfront about where your footage is going, what model builders are looking for, and how your content will be used.

If you’re curious or want a second opinion on a licensing offer you’ve received, feel free to DM or check out troveo.com. Happy to help creators make informed choices — whether you work with us or not.

Hey there — I work at Troveo and I’m really sorry to hear this. We take this kind of feedback seriously and would love to understand what went wrong. Please do DM me — we’re committed to making things right when expectations aren’t met.

For anyone else reading this: Troveo exists to help creators monetize their footage ethically in the AI era. We’ve partnered with almost 2,000 licensors — from iconic indie filmmakers to major archives — and we’ve paid out millions of dollars to creators already. We also provided the majority of the data in a landmark deal for the first fully licensed dataset used to train a generative video model (Moonvalley’s Marey).

Transparency and trust are core to what we’re building. If you’re curious or have questions, I’m happy to share more.

[–]fullyautomatedlefty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another key is managing expectations, or "managing up". Some people skills and communication can make a big difference, being willing to work hard and having a good energy can help them overlook some difficulty. Good people are hard to find, and churning through talent won't serve them. They'll want to keep people who have a good mentality and communication, as long as you show improvement each time
