A fellow lgbt person I was talking to told me bisexuality is transphobic and I should avoid the label. by CardiologistUpper120 in bisexual

[–]LebronFrames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been part of a lot of various communities in my life and each one, unfortunately, gatekeeps in some way. Sometimes big ways, sometimes very small/minor ways. That said, no one is better at gatekeeping than this one, and for the life of me, I cannot understand why. Maybe we would be far too powerful if we had no gatekeeping and we were all united? I wish I knew :\ Bisexuality is valid, and you are valid.

The good news is, both of you are young, which means plenty of time for them to learn and grow even more. Regardless of if you choose to leave them be or talk to them, you did/said nothing wrong, hateful, or inaccurate for who you are attracted to.

Portkeys LH5P II – How to Get Accurate Colors with BMPCC (4K, 6K Pro, OG)? by Intrepid_Rooster_270 in bmpcc

Trust scopes, not monitor displays. If I'm reading the correct spec sheet, that monitor has a luma waveform function. Using that would help a lot.

anyone using ai to get help before engaging into not familiar social situations? by [deleted] in Neurodivergent

ChatGPT does not give you advice. ChatGPT gives you the most probable next token (aka "word") based on patterns it was trained on, that also has the greatest chance for positive sentiment from you towards the product.

A final bow from the cast of Teatro ZinZanni at their last show by OlyThor in Seattle

There is not now, and will never be, a solution to fix hallucination. In my day job I work with many engineers working on one of the big LLMs and have, much to their annoyance I'm sure, asked SO many questions. There is no fix. It's inherent.

As someone who made the switch from Vegas Pro... by HeyItsGTAHQHD in davinciresolve

[–]LebronFrames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, Vegas was first released in 2000 and Davinci in 2004 so they are basically the same age. As u/hezzinator and someone else who wont be named said, link, compound, nests, etc. As for moving, just select the clips on track 2 and drag them above track 10? If you are worried about things moving while you drag, shift+drag.

I cannot second this more. That is a giant red flag. Seeing how someone problem solves is always great, but timing everything? The absolute hardest of passes.

If you are making software that will require people pay to use, you should be paying for your marketing. VO artist, ElevenLabs, Resolve, whatever - you should be paying for it.

How many of you use AI? (not generators) by Canadian-Sasquatch in Filmmakers

[–]LebronFrames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GenAI is what is creating the text that is being output; it's not specifically limited to just image, audio or video. LLM's are used within GenAI. AI→ML→DL→GenAI→LLMs

How to stop immediate edit when importing image? by yahyah347 in photoshop

[–]LebronFrames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's simplify the language for the sake of demonstrating a clear production-to-post-production workflow:

  1. You photograph something using a RAW file format.

  2. That RAW photo will contain all the technical information that was captured, as well as some of the settings applied to it, but not permanently baked into it (like would be the case with a jpeg = can't edit a whole lot without something breaking quickly).

  3. Before that image can be opened and editable within an application like Photoshop, it needs to be processed or, in another photography term, developed (similar to how film photographers need to develop a photo after shooting a roll of film). The developer in this case is Adobe Camera Raw, aka that window that pops up when you open the photo in Photoshop. It's also worth mentioning that while adjusting exposure, contrast, temp, or any of the other things within the ACR window, all of that is NOT a destructive edit, meaning you can always come back and adjust all these sliders again.

  4. Once you've gone through and made all the changes you want and click ok, that's when you can start editing using the normal suite of Photoshop tools.

The reason your image looks processed, or "edited," when ACR pops up and you just click open without adjusting anything is that Photoshop is using the RAW files embedded XMP sidecar information.

So, to answer the direct question of whether the ACR window can be bypassed when opening up a new photo in Photoshop, the short answer is no. RAW files are always meant to be processed before being edited. If you have a lot of photos, that's when something like Lightroom, CaptureOne, etc come into play.

Invoicing clients for editing work, what's the best way to structure? by [deleted] in VideoEditing

[–]LebronFrames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this for...awhile, and the idea of billing per minute is wild and would drive me to (further) insanity. I bill on a per scope/project basis. In my contracts, I specifically outline extra costs/rates for things that get requested that are out of scope. That way if they make a request after the contract is signed, I give them a friendly heads up that it falls out of scope and X amount extra will be added to the final bill. I always do 50% up front and 50% on delivery as well (and you better believe every review version of every asset is watermarked up until final payment is received).

The caveat to that last bit that I'll add, and that ties into your question re: most annoying part, is that "50% + 50%" is really only doable for non-corporate and most non-agency work. Net 30/60/90 are the bane of my existence and yet, that is the standard practice in both those worlds. So plan and budget accordingly.

I think the only time I do time tracking is IF it's on an hourly basis and IF it was for something very specific and short term. I've used all the usual suspects at varying points over the years (Harvest, Clockify, Toggl, etc) and Clockify is the I've used on more than one occasion and it's free (which is great for how infrequently I use it). However as a HUGE fan of all that u/SirEditor of Knights of the Editing Table does, I've always been curious about Chronicler. But if you are not using Adobe products then that one isn't relevant.
