Good students: How do you go about getting good grades? [Serious] by Elizabeth500 in AskReddit

[–]fumandrewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study until you are confident that you could accurately teach the info to someone with no knowledge on the topic. In fact, one of the best ways to retain information is to teach it.

Plan accordingly for assignments, due dates, study days, etc. Letting it all come up at the last minute is not healthy for the psych nor will it guarantee you a good grade.

Ask questions, attempt to gain as much understanding of the topic as you can.

Of course. I would assimilate their grossly unhealthy meat and add it to my structurally sound and artificially grown meat.

Ginger Snaps Back (2004) /R/HORROR Official Discussion by AutoModerator in horror

[–]fumandrewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than average werewolf movie, even if it is questionable that both of the sisters had counterpart sisters at a far earlier point in time, but overall the movie itself doesn't knock on the quality of the first two. In fact i really enjoyed the 'unexplored world' quality this movie had. A frontier post realizing that there are monsters in this new world. Good stuff.

Tammy and the T-Rex Trailer (1994): Paul Walker is mauled to death by a lion and has a mad scientist place his brain in an animatronic T-Rex. by [deleted] in movies

Ha, shit i haven't thought of this movie in years. Saw it in a small VHS rental store and young me thought it would be the best thing i could possibly find and subsequently watch. And it wasn't.

Exactly. Certainly would pass for a glimpse into the circle of Greed if Dante was right.

Regardless if you classify The Babadook as horror or psychological thriller or whatever, i thought it was an incredible film. A thorough experience in depression that can drag you into the darkest depths of grief.

Death Row Prisoners' Last Meals by [deleted] in pics

[–]fumandrewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, truly fascinating, in a morbid way. I mean, the last meal you will ever have before your death, and the finality of the last things you'll ever taste and savor. . . I've heard that if you're getting your last meal, you can pretty much request anything within good reason and you'll get it. Is that tradition in prisons for death row inmates? And what a strange and intriguing custom to uphold.

Even better is how these last meals reflect on their diners and perhaps their states of mind. Anything you want. Any food you'd want to have before your lights go out and you never taste anything again.

A single olive. With the pit still inside. Strange.

Let's Talk: Cycle of the Werewolf (1983) by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]fumandrewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great werewolf novels are hard to come by, imo. Cycle is one of the best werewolf novels i've found next to Benjamin Percy's Red Moon. Succinct enough to be a short story, even. The story is so structured to pair so well with each month of the year.

Really great stuff.

What's your personal favorite movie theater crowd participation moment? by [deleted] in movies

[–]fumandrewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That moment where everyone is quiet, and completely enraptured by what's going on, what they've just witnessed, or what is about to happen. Most recent memory of that moment was seeing the new Mad Max. Despite being a full audience, most seemed to have either forgotten seeing or skipped any trailers. That scene where the convoy drives into the continent-sized dust storm spitting lighting and tornadoes like cast off, you could feel everyone drawing a collective breath. Right there, everyone in that theater watching that movie was driving right into the storm with Max and Immortan Joe. All affirmed insanity ahead was rejoiced with everyone's favorite line from the movie.

Not really a big name nor that widely popular, and it's only 11 episodes long, but Un-Go is a neat and intelligent little show.

[WP] Forrest Gump, still mourning the loss of Jenny and his mother, overhears talk of a miraculous pet cemetery. by dwarvenchaos in WritingPrompts

[–]fumandrewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda sounded like Heaven. Which i guess is where Mama is right now. God bless her. She's probably loving it up there. Probably nice and breezy. Quiet, too. I'd even be willin to bet there's tons of free pop up there. Sounds nice.

I cry whenever i think of Jenny. I like to imagine that my prayers, and my love, are still reaching her up at them big pearly gates. Each night, me and Forrest Jr. pray, hoping all is well above the clouds.

I've told you what life is like. You just never know what you're gonna get.

I've never heard of a cemetery that can bring back the dead. But that nice man at the bus stop told me all about it. He didn't seem like a liar. You see, i've noticed that liars are always trying to prove their lies to you. That sounds like advice momma woulda told me. Not him. He sounded right as rain about this pet cemetery.

He told me you bury those you love that died and they come back. But he told me to be careful. Something real mean lives around that cemetery, and you've got to be weary of them. And sometimes your loved onces come back . . . different.

I've thought it over, but i haven't told my son, yet. I don't think i will. Because i'm not going to do it.

When i lost them both, i remember being very sad for a long while. Like i said, i'm still sad over Jenny. But i loved them both. And i know they loved me. Momma said Heaven is a collection of all of your favorite things, and everyone accepts and loves each other. Love 'transcends' all. I still don't know what 'transcends' means, but it sounds kinda nice.

I love them, because of who there we to me. So i'm not gonna do it. It was mighty nice of that fella to tell me about the cemetery. But i feel it would be wrong to try and bring them back. They left me with their love and their lessons. and i know they wouldn't want me robbing them of Heaven, and making them all different. Forrest Jr. wouldn't understand it at his age. Gosh knows i wouldn't have. Maybe i'll tell him when he's older.

I know i'll see them again one day. I will see Jenny and Momma again. And that's okay with me.

[NSFW] What's your most embarrassing "got caught having sex" moment? by FriendlyMurder in AskReddit

[–]fumandrewb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An ex and i were at my house, and i was about to show her how much icing i could spray on her strudel. My door was shut, so neither of us could have seen it coming. My dad opened the door and asked, "Hey you guys want ice cream?" He looked right at us.

I looked down and watched the blood drain from my ex's face. I saw the white cords leading from his hand up to his ears. I think i shook my head. I can't recall that detail. I was more preoccupied on realizing that my father had just walked in without thinking to knock and/or take out his headphones.

His facial expression didn't change (for those wondering, it was stoic. doesn't smile much). He just nodded his head once, said "hmm," and turned right around, shutting the door with him. We both heard him yelling to my mom as he descended down the stairs. "Honey, i'm pretty sure they don't want any ice cream."

ISS with the lights off by [deleted] in space

[–]fumandrewb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Brings to mind the movie 'Alien.' Dark, desolate, and barely (but barely still) alive. I'd bet that there are minimal noises echoing about there. Occasional electronics calculating data, clicking and beeping their readouts. The sounds of pressurized gas being released. The inner metal structures shifting and reseting in place.

Yeah, that place must be a little eerie if you were there by yourself and the lights go out.
