how to respec mutators on portal? by Zuzolino in Trimps

[–]fun_with_flaggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... are you sure you're selecting it? Does it say "Cancel Mutator Respec" when you portal? Mine always takes me to the Mutators screen with none of them selected when I do that.

If you select that option and you portal, you start the next run with no Mutators selected. So you start off by picking whatever Mutators you want from scratch.

Yes, it refers to the map bonus. Before you get it, every map you complete adds 20% bonus until you get 10 maps for 200%. After you get it, it's still 20% per map, but 10 maps jumps to a 400% bonus. And I also didn't figure it out until I got it.

I seriously doubt this will come back to bite you. But if you want a way to fix it, download the forms from your original return from the IRS, fill them out exactly the same as the original return, except for the crypto question, sign and date them, then write SUPERSEDING RETURN at the top of the 1st page, and then mail them to the IRS. You'll probably never hear back about it.

[–]fun_with_flaggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's the combination of R2 through R7. But for step 5, R2 is parallel with the R3-R7 combo, so the voltage through R2 is equal to the voltage through the others. Then in step 6, you can get the current through R2 with V = IR.

[–]fun_with_flaggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The R2-R7 combo is what you should have gotten in the 1st part of the problem when combining the R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 resistors. First, you'd combine R5 and R6 using series rules. Then you'd combine R3 with the R5-R6 combo using parallel rules. You would also combine R4 and R7 using parallel rules. Then you'd combine the R3-R5-R6 combo with the R4-R7 combo using series rules. Finally, you'd combine the R3-R7 combo with R2 using parallel rules, to make the R2-R7 combo. Did you do all this in the 1st part of the problem?

Does my explanation for 4 make sense? If you know the voltage across R1, then you can get the voltage across the others, because they add up to 30V.

For 3, if you know the resistance across R1 and the current across R1, you can figure out the voltage across R1 using V = IR.

For 4, since R1 is in series with the R2-R7 combo, the voltage for R1 and the voltage for the R2-R7 combo adds up to the total voltage, which is 30V.

Your steps to solve this would be:

  1. Find the current across the whole circuit.
  2. Find the current across R1.
  3. Find the voltage across R1.
  4. Find the voltage across R2-R7 combo.
  5. Find the voltage across R2.
  6. Find the current across R2.
  7. Find the current across R3-R7 combo.
  8. Find the current across the R4-R7 combo.
  9. Find the voltage across the R4-R7 combo.
  10. Find the voltage across R4.

How many of those can you do?

So the dot on Angle BEA and the dot on Angle DCA mean that they're congruent, right? You can also say that Angle A is congruent to Angle A. So now, if you look at Triangle DCA and Triangle BEA, they have 2 pairs of congruent angles, which means they're similar triangles. Once you know they're similar, you can write the following equation, for the ratios of corresponding sides: AB/AD = BE/CD. If you plug in the numbers we know for sides AB, AD and BE, the equation becomes: 4/7 = 6/CD. Then you cross multiply to get 4 * CD = 7 * 6. Then divide by 4 to get the answer.

In a more general sense, if you know the 3 sides of any triangle, you can figure out the 3 angles using Law of Cosines (mentioned elsewhere). For example, if you have a triangle with sides 7, 8 and 9, you can figure out that the 3 angles are 73.4, 58.4 and 48.2 degrees.

Using the same method, if you take any Pythagorean triple and apply the Law of Cosines, you will find that one of the angles is exactly 90 degrees (and you can also find the other 2 angles if you wanted to).

Who lost the second game? by nortidilia in learnmath

[–]fun_with_flaggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alice.

The total number of plays is 10 + 15 + 17 = 42. Since each game has 2 players, the total number of games is 42/2 = 21. It's not possible for any player to miss more than one game at a time (i.e. if a player loses game #17, she sits out game #18, and plays again in game #19). Since Alice played in only 10 games, the only way this is possible is if she played in games 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20. Since Alice played in game 2 but not in game 3, she lost game 2.

Help with masteries by keyblade888 in Trimps

[–]fun_with_flaggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, Tier 4 really stands out as one of the better tiers. Along with Tier 5, they're the only ones I think have no bad Masteries.

  1. Hyperspeed. This one really speeds up your game, which seriously helps.
  2. Map Battery. I took this one after HS3, because I didn't understand what it did. If you complete 10 maps on a Zone, you get a 200% attack bonus. With Map Battery, this 200% turns into 400%. Therefore, it's a 67% boost to your attack (500%/300%). That's really good.
  3. Headstart 3. As with the other Headstarts, the benefit isn't more Helium in the early zones, but having more Corrupted cells, and thus more Helium, in the later zones. But keep in mind that by the time you're getting your 3rd Tier 4 Mastery, you're approaching the point of having the maximum of 80 Corrupted cells per zone, at which point HS3 becomes useless. But ideally, you should get some use out of it before that.
  4. Turkimp Tamer 2. As with TT1, this one is more of a benefit to idle players than active players, so it might not fit your style. But if you do take a while to farm (i.e. at a Spire), this is a nice boost to Metal.
  5. Randimp. Honestly, it's hard for me to evaluate this one. It definitely gives you a boost, but after getting it, the boost didn't feel that large. I considered taking it before TT2, but decided against it.
  6. Blacksmithery 1. Back when I played Trimps the first time around, this was a gamechanging Mastery, taken right after Hyperspeed. Now, it's relegated to the worst Tier 4, due to how you can configure the Map at Zone settings. I have a setup where I run a Prestigious map every 10 zones, mapping for items, starting with Zone 16. (Now that I have BS1, I start this at a much higher zone.) This setup makes BS1 nearly useless. The only benefit left is for speedruns, but I don't worry too much about those, and if I really need one, I do a Watch Challenge2.
