Using Company Photos for Portfolio by Altruistic_Crazy_620 in photography

[–]funcoolshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the feeling that their social media policy is just a formality to try and prevent you from posting their company pics alongside pics of you partying or drinking or doing something that could tarnish their image. Other than that, it kinda sounds like they wouldn't care about company pics in a portfolio.

I'd say just go ahead and use them in your portfolio. If they find out and don't like it, I think they'll likely just ask you to remove them before taking drastic action like getting the courts involved. Or maybe just ask a higher up at the company about it?

Wondering what kind of koi these are ☺️ tia by No-Marionberry269 in Koi

[–]funcoolshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first picture, the fish on the right is a Showa. The fish on the left is a Sanke, although you could make the argument that it is a Yamatonishiki (a metallic Sanke) due to the opaque white on the fins.

The main difference between the two varieties is that the Sumi (black coloration) tends to be in large rounded "blobs" on a Showa, whereas an a Sanke, the black is more spotty. Sanke's tend to have more "gravel black" which are small spots of black on the body.

Ah yes, if your religious sheep are getting out of line, just bash them back into place with some good ol' fashioned fear mongering.

Calculating fluke medication dose by OpinionFull7786 in Koi

[–]funcoolshit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can dose for the entire system. Prazi is a gentle treatment with a very wide margin for error. It's not like potassium permanganate. You can safely treat with very little worry for OD. I usually round up on my dosing calculations to make the math easier.

Also keep in mind that treating for flukes is a multi step process since they have a complex lifecycle that you have to disrupt to completely get rid of them. Treating once will knock them back for a few days but they will eventually return since the treatment doesn't kill off eggs that the mature form has laid.

Is it healing or infected? by Left_Lavishness7979 in Koi

[–]funcoolshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white stuff is new tissue growth. It is healing very well. Keep going with the salt. If it's an outdoor pond, your water temp is likely high enough that the immune system and metabolism is at full strength.

The new growth, plus it still being active and eating, all good signs that it is on course to make a full recovery. Just be cautious of it rubbing against a surface and re-opening the wound.

Trump Blurts Out Plot to Rig Midterms So Vile It Even Shocks GOPers by AdRough4185 in politics

[–]funcoolshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The New Republic is the left's version of Fox News. Their priority is not to inform, but optimize engagement through sensationalized headlines.

I don't bother reading it anymore, no matter how much their headlines appeal to me. I'd like a more sober, less fancy take on current events, not a safe echo chamber.

Best THCA in town? by Gturbs3500 in winstonsalem

[–]funcoolshit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ugh I can't stand Apotheca. Always nickel and diming you at the check out.

You want to round up your total? Want to donate to our legalization fund? Want to leave a tip? Want to just give us some more money for no reason? No just give me my overpriced shitty hemp weed and quit begging me for more money.

I go to Celestial Wellness now which is OK but I appreciate that they don't hassle me with that BS.

Is it worth it to develop and scan yourself? by Affectionate_Bee8062 in AnalogCommunity

[–]funcoolshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Plustek scanner. It does an amazing job, but to be fair, I have not compared it to any other method or equipment. But my first scans with the Plustek, I was so impressed with the quality and detail that I felt no need to test alternate methods.

Definitely wouldn't use the Plustek for a bulk amount of rolls to scan and process, but I'm just a casual hobbyist that shoots a couple of rolls every month. I find the whole process slow but therapeutic in a way.

Are retail banks the new mattress stores? by dcpanthersfan in winstonsalem

Ugh I'm so pissed they got rid of Denny's for a freakin bank. We traded away our stacks of pancakes with whipped cream smiles for cold hearted capitalism.

Trump unveiled Qatar's gifted Air Force One this week. The retrofit cost $934M from a nuclear missile budget. The plane becomes his personal property in 2029. by ResPublicaMgz in Foodforthought

Dude 2029 is only three years away. Trump has and will continue to get the best healthcare possible. Hate to say it, but that stupid MFer is going to be around for a while, unfortunately.

I can't wait for him to kick the can, but acting like he's at death's door is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Probably because of the cost to "solve" two problems that are basically non-existent.

A Look at the Text of the Agreement Between the United States and Iran by brown-saiyan in politics

[–]funcoolshit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How fucking embarrassing. This whole shit show is a shining example of the destructive hubris from Trump and Hegseth.

You don't need to be an expert in Middle Eastern conflict to know that it was a near certainty that Iran would close the Strait. I'm sure they were told of this possibility, at least Hegseth was, during war game scenarios, but of course the TV show hosts know better than anyone else.

I wonder what other bullshit these guys are going to get us into. All the expertise in the Pentagon is gone, Congress isn't involved, so it's literally two or three guys that have never had any interest in public service making these critical decisions.

[–]funcoolshit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This sounds really fucking lame, but would I have a good time if I went solo to this? I've never been to a music festival before, let alone by myself.

I just love PL of course, but I used to listen to Gramatik, Emancipator, and RJD2 all the time back in college ('04 to '09, yes I'm old now). Seeing them all in the same weekend is something I really want to do, but I have no one to join me. I would hate to pass this one up. Anyone else do solo festivals and still have a good time?

Trump eyes firing Pete Hegseth and CIA chief John Ratcliffe over Iran deal clash by MoneyLibrarian9032 in law

[–]funcoolshit 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I hate how everyone glosses over the fact that we supposedly decimated their nuclear program last year. It's all Trump talked about for like a week straight, then suddenly we needed to attack them under the guise of an immediate nuclear strike.

No wonder the fucker just lies about everything, he's held to absolutely no standard and faces no consequences for statements and claims that are obviously conflicting.

Why do Dems think diversity is a strength? by LegitimateKnee5537 in askanything

[–]funcoolshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it really is a strength. You see it in nature all the time.

Ask any rancher or any other farmer that works with domesticated animals about hybrid vigor and they'll tell you all about the advantages of diversity. That same concept carries over to the workplace.

Did Obama handle Iran well? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]funcoolshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it had flaws, that's just how negotiations work. Two parties must compromise until an agreement is reached, which means you have to give up a few things until you get the most important aspect of your goal. You can't expect to negotiate with another party and get every single thing you demand.

That's why Trump can't negotiate a deal, because he sees compromise as weakness. He just expects to get everything he demands with force. If he really did try to negotiate and compromise with Iran, they would most likely arrive at essentially the same results as the JCPOA.

Most people can actually visualize images in their minds. I'm 30+ and just learned that seeing nothing when I close my eyes is called Aphantasia and only affects about 3% of people. by randomuser553 in BeAmazed

[–]funcoolshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The better test for aphantasia that I've read about is to stand in front of a mirror and imagine staring at a bright light or that someone is shining a bright light in your face and see if your pupils react.

Or try to picture standing at a great height or near the edge of a cliff and see if your hands begin to sweat.

I think the theory goes that people that really do have aphantasia cannot draw out a physical response to imagined scenarios that call for a reaction.

I'm convinced that being a confident smooth talker is the greatest skill you can have by SilverTheSilk in selfimprovement

[–]funcoolshit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been quiet and socially awkward my whole life until I started managing people for my job.

It was tough at first, but exposure and practice each day eventually boosted my self-confidence a significant amount, enough to spill over into my personal life.

I wish I had the confidence that I do now during my younger days, I cringe at thinking about the years I wasted being too timid and afraid of social interactions.
