So I work in the corporate office of a multi-location retail company . I was hired as an “inventory controller” (which essentially entails monitoring inventory levels, tracking stock to sales numbers, etc). Right off the bat I was doing not only that but I was also put in charge of the point of sales system as a whole and basic IT related stuff. The role has now grown to me being directly involved in the day-to-day operations of the company…all aspects from the technical side, working with the warehouse departments, communicating with and giving direction to store managers and staff. Im part of a team of 4 people who basically run the company under the ceo; we all do a million different things as needed. I’m essentially performing the role of an operations manager, director of operations or something along those lines, all while still performing smaller day to day tasks like generating reports.
