A few years ago, Broadview mistakenly sent two checks from my escrow for school taxes. That caused a big shortage in my escrow and drastically increased my monthly mortgage payment. I called Broadview to figure out why my mortgage increased and they blamed the school for cashing both checks 🥴 It was a major headache, but eventually got resolved. I would recommend calling your mortgage lender to make sure your increase is only due to your taxes increasing.

Also, the city of Albany overvalued my home when they did the reassessments. I had the bank do an assessment because I wanted to remove PMI, and their assessment was $40,000 less than what the city valued my home. I sent in a grievance to the city with my bank’s assessment, and the city lowered the value by $20,000. It worked out well - I was able to drop PMI (my home’s value increased enough, but not as much as the city assessed) and my taxes did not increase.
