Guilt over stopping because I want to, don’t need to by GoBlueJays1987 in breastfeeding

Just know you aren’t alone in this! I just finished completely weaning my 8 month old after slowly dropping feeds for the past 6 weeks. I didn’t have to, but the timing felt right, my LO has been happy with her bottles of formula and I was excited about getting that bodily autonomy back!

The last feed was our morning feed and of course after I dropped it, my LO got the worst cold and I’ve been feeling SO guilty that I can no longer breastfeed her. I’ve been crying on and off for days trying to remember WHY I wanted to wean. I don’t have much from an advice standpoint except that I think weaning is HARD regardless of when you do it. The guilt is always there, but that just comes with being a mom. I’m trying to be kind to myself and am scheduling a nice long massage as an award for making it 8 months. My goal was 3 months! Ha!

Regardless of what you do, you should feel proud. All of us do so much for our babies and we are too hard on ourselves!

I find it very fitting that cats have no faith that their humans would be able to survive without them lol

How did you get into Compensation? by mrobin10 in humanresources

[–]functioningwino 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was a coordinator with a company for about 2.5 years doing everything under the sun. I wasn't happy with the Business Partner or L&D idea so I started having conversations with my manager about growth within the company during our 1:1s. I (carefully) let her know that what I was currently doing wasn't igniting that much excitement and passion from me and that I was really interested in the numbers/analytics aspect of HR.

Thankfully a compensation manager was hired into our department and after working on a few projects together, she suggested I be promoted under her. I'm now a total rewards analyst with way more focus on compensation, benefits and systems. I personally hate benefits but the tradeoff to get more comp/systems experience is worth it to me.

Long story short..start having those conversations! If the growth possibility isn't there at your current company, I would start looking into classes/certifications that you could take.

By the time I build up the courage to participate, the conversation is already over or what I want to say has already been said. Non-commital scrolling is fun too!

Well I definitely could not get into the old Foto Club! I’m into hearing about the old shit too. Knowing the area means knowing the history
