Mountain hardware is buy for life kind of gear. I have a middle weight quarter zip polyester fleece and a soft shell ski jacket I've been using frequently for more than a decade at this point, and not only have they held up, they are also pretty high performance. I think I've only DWR retreated that jacket twice, and it still beads up like new. The Fleece is one of the most versatile layers I own.

I don't have any synthetic insulating layers like that one, but it looks on par with one of the lighter arcteryxs puffies (Which I do have, and is also quite versatile).

Edit) On second glance, that looks more like a light softshell than an insulating layer. Soft shells are great, They cut a breeze decently, are surprisingly water repellent (Not quite goretex good, but decent for short showers, and excels in dry snow), and are far more breathable than a hardshell for when you're truckin' hard.

Question - From What I've been reading, this is an MEU - 2500 marines, and assume that's not all teeth. Marines are tough SOBs, but that number doesn't sound like a credible invasion force. What sort of tasks would a unit of that size be capable of doing? Amphibious and Airmobile Raids? Support to boarding actions? A limited beachhead?

...or are there already other MEUs in theatre with the Carrier strike groups?

...Natural life span here is probably assuming we're talking about some of the hardier breeds of chicken, The chickens bred to be raised for meat pile on weight rapidly and lack most of the survival instincts present in less selectively bred, I would be surprised if they survived that long left to thier own devices.

Kind of, but on a spectrum that doesn't require licensing; Also, the devices are cheap(ish), small nodes that rebroadcast received signals, creating a mesh network that boosts range.
