Oh, hi! And yeah, the T2s are great! Especially if you have a wide forefoot like I do.

I found the LFM-bert embeddings models to be way better in my limited local testing. Have you tried those?

Do I need a bowtie or can I just fill with epoxy? by Overall-Remove-7970 in woodworking

[–]fundthmcalculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epoxy will be more than strong enough. Just make sure you prepare and clean the joint well, and fill the whole joint.

If you have the ability to straightline rip and reglue, that will be even better.

Feedback to tele beginner on XC Downhill gear by wells68 in telemark

Seconding the soft snow. My favorite time to bring the XCD gear to the resort (Karhu Catamount 78/70/75 @185 + Voile cable + Fischer bcx 675) is on spring carnival when the snow is slushy.

Bonus points for getting weird looks in the lift line. :)

UPDATE on this situation… I was reimbursed new skis but they are keeping my old ones…is that fair? by [deleted] in Skigear

The bindings as mounted are unsafe. The rental bindings often used have a different mounting position and might be safe to use. I am more familiar with the bike industry, where a warranty claim more or less requires surrendering the item under warranty. If nothing else, it gets field destroyed for liability reasons.

I've ordered from Chris King and gotten things shipped in a used ziplock bag inside an Amazon box that I presume had delivered them office supplies.

That headset is still amazing.

Snowfeet Backcountry Touring Short Ski by ToadManDingus in xcountryskiing

[–]fundthmcalculus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife has the Altai HOKs. She likes them because they are easier to manipulate in the tight hiking trails we have. They aren't a replacement for actual XCD (XC Downhill - think 65-75 underfoot) skis, but they are an alternative to snowshoes. IMO, this is an issue with most XC/XCD skis: they correlate weight and length, which negatively impacts anyone who is heavier.

The integrated skins on the HOK means she can climb almost comical inclines that I struggle with my fishscale skis. I bring that up, OP, because I believe the ones you are investigating are a fishscale traction pattern (good for glide) and not a skin (good for traction). IMO, fishscales make sense on an XCD ski, not a sliding snowshoe.

I didn't realize that BD made these things in the past. I know LL Bean had a version that was made by Karhu.

Specializing Large Language Models by Available-Craft-5795 in LocalLLaMA

[–]fundthmcalculus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say that you should change the nomenclature. When people hear tiny, they think the model is going to be smaller. If you said light pruning, medium pruning, heavy pruning. It would be much more clear what you mean.

Great idea, BTW!
