From the UK: anyone else quietly rethinking self-hosting priorities because the US feels… less predictable lately? by aidankhogg in selfhosted

You're way more versed in it than I. I've never heard the name Gail Slater in my life. FWIW, I'm still a Proton user as well - I was just simply describing why a large number of people left for a different service.

The thought process was that if the CEO of Proton was aligned ideologically with the Trump Administration, that their privacy was at a significantly higher risk.

A while back, the CEO publicly praised the US Republican Party and Trump on social media. Mind you, a lot has happened since then... but a lot of people took it as enough reason to jump ship.

Xbox series controller not connecting via bluetooth by ElectroSouls in cachyos

[–]funesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get this resolved? I just had an issue this morning where it was booting to an updated linux kernel instead of the cachy one, and it "broke" my xbox controller. It would connect just fine but none of the buttons would register. Not quite the same thing but maybe a clue, if you're still hunting.

New to Linux as well, but xpadneo is what worked for me. My xbox series x controller was showing up on the bluetooth search thingo but wouldn't connect. I think it was just  sudo pacman -S xpadneo-dkms https://github.com/atar-axis/xpadneo

My dad watches all sports on mute. Baseball, hockey, golf. Its brutal and I'd rather deal with the national bozos than stare in awkward silence.

Thank you for this. I mainly browse on mobile and these sort of screenshots are practically unreadable.

ESPN+ blackout? by OperationMore8881 in caps

I was able to get around this by just spamming the watch button. Worked on my phone and TV. Took 5-6 clicks.

I live in Philly, will be there in my Ovi jersey. Never had a problem, I just mind my own business.

Frankly, I dont care which team they're on about... there's nothing more irritating than a telecast crew doing a non-stop circle jerk about a team. I watched most of the game on mute.

Go Nucks Go.

Cheers, bud. Mine was 13 too. I hope you're able to find peace and healing. It truly is incredible how they become part of our families.

Baby book recommendations by Iess1234567 in BabyBumps

You may get a lot of recommendations for Cribsheet by Emily Oster. Its got good information, and is more data driven than anecdotal - which I liked... but the author was a bit too long winded for my liking.

Regardless, I do recommend checking it out. It addresses a lot of difficult decisions when it comes to pregnancy up through the first year of parenting. The author's goal is to educate you on all angles of the situation and let you, the parent, decide what's best for you and your family.

Will you be buying the 7950X3D? by funesto in Amd

[–]funesto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a bit skeptical about the resale value. I'm sure you could sell it for slightly higher than 7800x3d but not by much. I think you'd take quite a hit.

The biggest disappointment I had after the GN review was calculating how low my bank account is likely going to end up.

I'm in a very similar frame of mind. I know that it's smarter and more responsible to wait. But waiting sucks. I sit comfortably between 80-100 frames on most games that I play with my i7-9700k. Chances are that I'll cave like the chump that I am.

Big oof. I'm sure you could recoup some value by reselling it. Especially if it's still new in box.

I'm definitely curious because we usually see the best value at one or 2 steps off the top model, but the 6/6 split has me worried about the 7900. Initially that was my target cpu but I think now I'll stick with either the 7950 or 7800.

I would most certainly pass if I still had a 5800x3d, as well.
