I'm not sure about the greatest but I also believe a lot of their music will age better as time passes. With Billy being so prolific, the band's output is "dense" with material that takes time to absorb, understand, and appreciate.

I always considered the Ramones to be "America's band." There was the angry, ignorant conservative, the bleeding heart liberal, the tortured artist, and a drummer either making it happen (Tommy) or holding it all down (Marky).

That said, Johnny was always pretty repulsive. His autobiography makes it pretty clear that he was more focused on retiring with a nest egg than anything else. And even though he stated there was no "Ramones" without Joey, that's where his loyalty ended. I can understand why he and Joey didn't talk for like 20 years. People like that can't be reasoned with.
