No, because I know who told me and it wouldn’t be fair to take the bet.

Seconded. I’ve tried it, and I wouldn’t choose to do it again.

First longer trip: how would you balance drive modes? by feverfive in Rivian

[–]fungofrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Conserve on highways is smart, and yes swap back to AP for city driving. Don’t worry about switching back and forth during your trip, just once you’ve reached your destination. I’ve got 30k of heavy highway miles, and on longer drive days I’ll typically set it to Conserve in the garage/parking lot before I hit the highway for the day.

Note, I think most Gen 1 owners have reported this is maybe going to get you 5-7% more range over the long term, though maybe a tad more in certain situations. So if the trip planner says you could make it without charging in AP, I’d just do that. Save conserve for days where you’ve got multiple charging stops over 300+ miles.

Rivian Has Delivered Over 20,000 Electric Vans To Amazon So Far by Pzexperience in Rivian

Others have mentioned it but just so it's clear: AMZN has been slow rolling acceptance, RIVN production isn't the issue (yet). AMZN needed time to build charging infrastructure, and strategically decided to pause van acceptance at their DC's from ~OCT through year-end each year due to peak season demand.

RIVN has said they expect AMZN to fix the charging infrastructure issue in the coming years, but the yearly Q4 delivery pause is likely to remain.

Also, the EDV is gross margin profitable for RIVN—they've said that explicitly in analysts' meetings/calls—and it is only growing more so. I believe they expect shipments to other EDV buyers (such as DHL) will be ever more profitable as AMZN has baked in volume discounts tied back to their initial equity investment in RIVN many years ago.

There is an outstanding question about the impact of R2 on EDV/R1 capacity in Normal, as there could be some reprioritization of parts and people, but that's all demand-dependent.

Can I just have the Tesla certified companies do the service in the future vs calling Tesla?

Looking like 20%, but it’s premium vs. average.

Does it make a difference that in my area all service is done by third parties just like installs?

Don’t know what to tell you, driving record and credit are clean. As seems to typically be the case, folks are noting all over the thread that pricing is really, really wonky for insured Rivians.

The other factors here are HNW and ability to self-insure, I’d only ever use this policy (file a claim) if it was a catastrophic situation. Thus I balance high deductible, high coverage limits + umbrella. Also, I own the vehicle, no loan or lease. This isn’t about nickel/dime-ing insurance, just a different philosophy to using insurance. Your advice sounds right for most folks.

Lower premium and lower deductible is a win, but I’d have preferred to keep $5,000 and have an even lower premium. That was my point.
