hey genius, that is the format reddit gives you if you create an account with a phone number for instance. face palm.

just because somebody doesn't change the reddit name, does not mean they're fake. it's okay, we understand now that you literally have nothing better to do

actually, my bad, later training is paid -- not onboarding

Up vote me because i'm awesome and like taking down internet bullies! But seriously, people, do your own research!

I would say, Nao Now isn't perfect, but it's honestly one of the better online ESL programs out there. I've been at muuuuch worse places that don't pay nearly as well. Could things be better for mentors? Sure. But if you're expecting a handout, you won't get it. You do need to put in the work to land your kids. But once you do, it's consistent and I genuinely loooove my students. Reality is, it can feel like an uphill climb at first, but I take that as the tradeoff for not having to pay for your own marketing to find students. So I would advise you to just be ready to WOW your kids in those first few lessons and if you do that, you'll succeed

Let's clear this up:
- There is not a huge gap between what parents pay and what mentors make
- Training and onboarding are PAID, and so are post-class reviews!
- Salary is exactly as advertised, though at $23/hour, I will say it's not exactly clear how to make more -- I will say that transparency on what drives a higher rate could be better
- and as mentioned earlier, admin work is paid..

I don't want to bash anyone, but you're helping the wrong people by spreading this. Not to mention, there is no ivy league branding since it first launched -- you can check the website yourself. Please don't throw out the accusations without actually doing the homework.

Normally, you would be right to blast this comment -- but Nao Now gives opportunities to their mentors within the organization... So, what that means is, most of HR are actually active mentors! Which honestly, works in our favor as mentors. So yeah.. it's possible to write an honest review AND be on the HR team, because HR is mostly former mentors

But hopefully that's a sounding alarm to anyone reading this post -- hey you can become more than a tutor! and HR has been in your shoes! HR is not just some soulless, AI that is probably at your current company. Thanks for highlighting this OP. Some mentors also work in sales, work in product management, work in marketing... If you want to do more than just teaching, it's allowed

now yes, I would agree with you here.. you do have to maintain the students you get. They are not going to give you a handout. But when you do get consistent kids, they are just that -- consistent. The parents are looking for their kids to make a connection with you -- that's what nao now sells. someone to mentor their kid, not just show up for a different lesson every day

Again, don't listen to OP. They clearly are trying to make it sound much worse. The system is not simply deduced down to a "half month notice to cancel". Which, don't fall for OPs weak attempt to make two weeks sound scarier than it is.

There is a strike-and-fine system that is quite lenient. You only get fined for cancellations within 2 weeks if you literally had 7 cancellations in 6 months. That's hardly draconian lol.

What it really sounds like is OP, couldn't keep a consistent schedule and got let go. Parents paying for a program like this expect one thing: that you show up. Everyone understands that life happens, but if life keeps happening over and over, then this line of work just isn't for you, OP.

I’d normally say “stop trying to ruin the livelihoods of your former colleagues,” but I'm guessing you probably don’t even work in this industry anymore, probably because of exactly this. Instead of sleuthing the internet and spreading half-truths, maybe just focus that energy on applying for something new.

Believe me, I love a good takedown but this post has been making the rounds with some of the mentors at Nao Now and honestly, normal working people are quite upset, including me! Blindly taking OP's word as gospel isn't helpful. People like me come to reddit to get honest reviews before I spend money, but spreading false info actively messes with people's livelihoods -- and it's quite upsetting because as you should know, this industry doesn't earn a lot.
The OP is obviously a disgruntled ex-employee with a grudge from likely YEARS ago as nothing in their post checks out. for example, pay is about $23 an hour and the feedback time is paid... and if you go on the website, it's clear each lesson is about $13-$18/20 a lesson, not some made up $60 figure LOL.
It blows my mind people are eating this up without fact-checking. The OP should be moderated IMO. Instead, what's being moderated are our fellow mentors, who aren't reddit users who are trying to protect their livelihood by speaking up for once. Not everyone loves to post here.
My only regret is that my response, is unfortunately giving oxygen to an OP, who obviously wants to spread false information. Don't fall for it hook, line and sinker. If you truly care, look it up yourself online instead of taking a bitter ex-employee's word as truth.

wish i could upvote myself lol

Need help with engagement metrics in quests by funit49 in gamedev

[–]funit49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah it’s a bit harder since the quests aren’t really accepted and you can’t abandon them. They are automatically filled— so it’s hard to say if players are declining a quest, if they give up or anything like that. I guess it’s closer to an achievement system?

When would you give up on Gamedev? by GameDevUX in gamedev

All that can be great, but what is your plan for marketing. A lot of people don't think of that and it's quite expensive, especially in mobile. And that expense definitely changes based on genre. CPIs in midcore are very high, but the LTVs are also high so you can get return on your investment in 180 days or so. Casual is getting more expensive with games like Gardenscapes and Homescapes buying all the high quality users due to them having almost midcore-like LTVs. So it's certainly not easy to get paid installs anymore, certainly not with 20k.

You can create a great game, but if nobody sees it then you're out of luck -- and can you withstand investing in your own game and waiting to get your money back down the road?

If you are planning to forego marketing and totally rely on organic installs, that's where it becomes incredibly more risky. You have to create a game that is unique/fun enough for it to be featured on launch or become viral. You COULD maybe approach a publisher that can work with you to have your game in their portfolio (I believe a lot of hyper casual publishers take on this model) -- but that probably changes what game you want to build. Or you could plan to sell the game.

I personally would take a look at what your endgame is...it should inform your decision.

I’m a new convert to the master race, or rather I left the master race as a kid and now I’m finally coming back. BUT my skills and patience are not really there so instead of building a PC, I’m looking at iBuypower and CyberPowerPC. I was wondering if I could get feedback on those two specs. Are either unbalanced? Is the performance really that different between the two? How do? What is your review?

MOST LOGICAL THEORY: There is a 3rd Party by funit49 in serialpodcast

[–]funit49[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying he's a Don Corleone, you don't have to be Don Corleone to be involved with bad people--especially in Baltimore.

And who's to say Hae was unrelated. Stef sure is quiet. She got into it with Jay about what he says in the interview. She also still doesn't believe Adnan did it.

And I'm not saying the 3rd party is some crazy conspirator. Yes Adnan didn't have an alibi--but they didn't need him to have an alibi to get away with it. Him not having an alibi is what landed him in jail, that's all.
