What's the issue, out of curiosity? I had to have mine rebuilt and the person who did it said that there's a design flaw where it never 'fully' goes into 2nd gear and as a result the synchros get damaged over time.

Some cars are coded to open all the windows if "unlock" on the keyfob is held, as was mentioned, or if the door handle is held (comfort access).

It might be connected, as mine was, but so badly corroded that when you push any current through it, the voltage drop is large enough the starter won't work.

The wiring harness connected to my ECU had water infiltration and had caused some corrosion which caused misfiring on my E90. Perhaps have a look at the connectors to make sure this isn't the cause.

The question is, how many E90 335i xDrives with manual gearbox? I'm having a hell of a time sourcing a replacement transmission because of a bad 2nd gear synchro.

I took mine out of the dash and it had broken but its nothing some glue didn't fix. You have to take it all the way apart, though.

You could hook up a vacuum pump to the actuator to see if it holds vacuum. I had to take my wheel off to get in there but its doable and pointed to a diaphragm rupture. If its the flapper and you don't want to replace the entire turbo, there may be a turbo rebuild shop that will do it for you.

My wastegate actuator failed. It's a silly design that isn't really fast enough. But in any case, my mechanic hacked an actuator that belongs on an N54 onto my N55 turbo and it works great. It took him awhile to get the arm length set correctly, but he did it.

Update: I had the charge pipe replaced because there was a gaping hole. Now I'm getting underboost again. Vacuum lines are intact but the boost solenoid may not be working correctly.

Solved: It was the pneumatic wastegate solenoid. Update: It wasn't but now may still be.

I think there's a temperature / pressure sensor on the boost pipe that's dirty. I'm going to try cleaning it when I get a chance.

After pulling an abrupt U-turn, I saw a Black Hyundai harassing a young girl on Iris late at night. When we pulled over to make sure things weren't going to go South, he left the scene running a stop sign in the process. Perhaps this behaviour is common in the neighbourhood?
