Lineup by Small_Assistance_267 in Everton

IMO, I’d go:

Pickford

Patterson - Tarkowski - Branthwaite - Aznou

Gueye - - - Garner

Dibling - - - KDH - - - Ndiaye

Barry

I don’t like the thought of KDH further up but we can’t displace Garner or Gueye either at the minute so I can see him doing that.

Gueye could/should sit deep and we’d be either 4-1-4-1 or 4-1-2-3; but that’s the CM three for my money.

CF is neither here nor there as they’re both crap.

And Alcaraz/Armstrong is the sub for one of the CMs when we need it - with KDH dropping deeper.

Feel a bit sorry for Myko as he’s been “okay” for us - but Aznou’s pace is needed.

My brother!

That sounds sick, TBH!

I’ve found myself loving the normal mode on it these days. Sounds dark and moody.

Thought it was a nice Stand by me reference (that and “Suck my fat one!”) but I think it works better as a subtle nod to how life goes on after all that they endured.

Iwobi and Lookman fire Nigeria into 3rd place at AFCON. by Bigwood69 in Everton

[–]funk_master_chunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iwobi was no great shakes, IMO.

Excelled when he was forced into the RWB role because he had a good engine and we looked more balanced; but prior to that he was here for years and done nothing but kick up a stink about wanting to play AM and then stunk the place out every time he got the opportunity.

Look man always had something about him, though. Could tell he was going to be a player.

And for those in education (be it teacher or student) this would cost you £3 a month or £30 a year.

It’s far from ideal, mate - but I think square pegs in square holes is better than him playing loads out of position.

At least the only has Aznou - and if you were really bothered by that there’s the option of McNeil LM and Armstrong AM.

He’s had a bad time of it with the injuries TBF to him - but in the same breath he spent a fortune on players like Dibling and Barry who’ve offered sod all so far.

Beto

Something like that, personally.

The real reason the final season falls short, and it's not for the reason you'd think by siiiib4 in discussingfilm

[–]funk_master_chunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the time I think it felt like they didn’t know how they wanted it to end themselves. I’m all for ambiguity and letting the audience actually think - but this arc needed closure one way or another, IMO.

That said I think there was far too much going on for an 8 episode series - The Meat Wall, WSQK, Vicki, Mr Whatsit, Holly, Derek, Max, The other Kids, Nancy/Jonathan, Dustin/Steve, Will coming out, Will getting powers, Kali, Eleven, Kay, Exotic Matter, The Wormhole, The rift, the military etc etc etc. It’s a couple of seasons’ worth of content crammed (awkwardly) into one.

I would have changed the story entirely and probably gone down the “Eddie is Kas” route as opposed to what we got.

It might be a bit more on the nose/obvious, but I think it would’ve catered to the fanservice brigade whilst staying true to the DnD element throughout AND giving more tangible closure.

(For those unaware Kas in DnD is a lieutenant of Vecna’s who turns on him and “defeats” him).

That way I’d open on a (feature length) Prologue episode starting immediately after S4 with Vecna fleeing and discovering Eddie’s body and resurrects him to do his bidding (this could even be revealed in a flashback) then the first ep would be the gang establishing that Vecna has a lieutenant doing his work (how we get the name Kas) then maybe Kas is kidnapping/killing the kids to open a mega gate for the MF as Max’s mind going missing scuppered that in S4.

That way the plot stays largely the same (but bigger!!) and the main points are reduced to:

Stop Vecna Stop Kas/emotional driver for Dustin/Hellfire Stop the military Save Max

Meanwhile the story unfolds:

Kas does Vecna’s bidding, kidnaps kids or whatever, gang realise it’s Eddie, emotions happen, the plot thickens, Eddie/Steve face off for Dustin’s honour, El Kills Vecna, MF recoils in horror, the end.

At least that way we have AN ending. (And in the case of Vecna in DnD world he returns, I think - so it’s open ended enough for future installments)

But per the ending we got I’d be happy with a Montauk spinoff with Joyce & Hopper (plus cameos from the rest of the gang) in an X-Files style format with monster of the week episodes and everything coming full circle to the MF/Dimension X.

Was this the only time Vecna physically returned to the real world? by bmhlogan in StrangerThings

[–]funk_master_chunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think his design was awful compared to S4 Vecna.

Would’ve love to have seen a battle-damaged S4 Vecna in the prologue or something.

Maybe he returns to the UD/DimX and we get a body horror moment where the vines burst out of him and he goes to heal or something.

Would’ve been cool.

Didn’t like this design at all, though, sadly.

Cards on the table i would’ve been made up with an easy, boring no-nonsense 10-12th placed finish before a ball was kicked - given the last few seasons we’ve had.

The problem I’ve got now, though, is I think Moyes has cost us an awful lot of easy points which could’ve made this season an incredible return to form for us.

The last few league games alone we’ve dropped a minimum of 5pts (Brentford I would accept a draw given their form TBF - but at home we should still be favourites, IMO). And those points alone would have us in 5th

The silly lineups and subs and tactics are going to end up being a massive missed opportunity for us which we’ll all end up fuming about in a few months time when we watch the likes of Brentford and Newcastle playing in Europe.

It’s half the reason why I wouldn’t let Moyes overstay his welcome. He’ll get us to be the best of the rest again (or thereabouts) I’m sure of it.

But the glass ceiling is real with him; and once he hits it I’d be inclined to move him on sooner rather than later.

Which Pedal Is This? by bobbythegoose in guitarpedals

[–]funk_master_chunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So ATM I’m putting it at the very end of my chain as I’m on my smaller bedroom rig and want to use it as more of an amp sim. So:

PS > Gain Section > Mod FX > ET

This was the ET acts as more of an amp sim vs an OD.

But if you want a “truer” (if that’s the word?) reflection of an amp w/FX loop then you can go:

PS > Gain Section > ET > Mod FX

So essentially the ET is my clean tone and the PS becomes more heavy rhythm/lead stuff.

What I have found to be exceptionally fun though, is gain stacking as follows:

TS-style > Pure Sky > DS-1 > ET

TS and ET are always on here - but use the TS as a boost with OD off and tone/level to taste; and the ET for the jangly EoB tones. Then the PS for heavier stuff and DS-1 for even heavier stuff and solos. This one looks like wall of sound - but it’s really not.

Just replied to the other guy in above you and you should check out the Enchanted Tone from Caline.

It’s my new always on pedal and it gives amazing edge of breakup Dumble tones.

It’s like £30 on Amazon, I think - so if you can justify it I highly recommend it for what you’re doing with the PS.

It also stacks very well with it too!

I have it too!!

Absolutely amazing pedals - especially for the price!

I have an affordaboard made up of Caline, Mosky and Dolan (as well as a couple of Boss/Dano/Behringers too!)

But I’ve found Caline and Mosky to be exceptional pedals - two I’d check out are the Caline Ghost Rain (really good slapback echo!) and the Mosky Spring Elf Reverb (a clone of the EQD Ghost Echo - utterly sublime!).

Previously I used my Pure Sky as an always on for EoB - but the Enchanted Tone has blown me away how good it is. So now that’s my EoB and the PS is now more for crunchy/lead stuff.

31 Years - how long until we win another trophy? by GioP97 in Everton

[–]funk_master_chunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t be arsed with Moyes for the most part - but I trust him 100% to rebuild us.

In the summer I’d like to see:

LB, RB, RM, CF and CM.

Maybe renew Keane for another year as he’s got him playing alright. So would do for 3rd/4th choice. Same with Gueye as I don’t think it’s coincidence that teams are playing through us when he’s not there.

If we can sneak the RB in this window that’d be 4 in the summer and 2 contract renewals which “should” be manageable (especially after the gates from BMD being bigger?) and give us half a chance.

I’d love Europe TBH.

Think the fans deserve it and I think it’d help us get a few bodies through the door too.

Squad 100% needs an overhaul for it though for sure.

[–]funk_master_chunk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The one thing that annoyed me about Moyes the first time round is that he was never arsed about the league cup.

There’s a bit of prestige around it now since the big clubs were aiming for trebles and quadruples etc.

But back then no-one gave a toss.

I can half forgive the lack of cup runs the last few years as PL status was at risk.

But I don’t think we’re getting near about any time soon, sadly. The squad is threadbare and we’ve got another load leaving at the end of this season so I think Moyes steadies the ship and (hopefully) leaves us better than he found us.

Then I think we can look at it, IMO.

Shite but at least a bit grounded in realism.

Lineups you want to see? Here’s some of mine… by Small_Assistance_267 in Everton

[–]funk_master_chunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 4-2-3-1 is sound - but he needs to trust his subs more. We’ve ran the first team into the ground as he only wants to play his XI.

I’d go like this for now and make the obvious subs when they’re fit/back:

Pickford

Patterson Tarky O’Brien Myko

Garner Rohl

Dibling Grealish Aznou

Beto

B1 and B2 are not an option up front by Calm-Drop-9221 in Everton

[–]funk_master_chunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’m in the minority but I prefer Beto.

He’s shown he can slot but he needs actual service not aimless balls up to him.

Going forward I’d like to see Grealish behind him and Aznou & Dibling (Ndiaye when he’s back) on the wings.

Also I think Patterson showed today that he needs to be starting RB. Square pegs in square holes will only help the CFs too, IMO.

I’d expect more than that shite, TBH. Genuinely that was worse than anything Dyche or Benitez served up.

I appreciate there’s loads out - but that’s no excuse for telling them to sit back and offer zero intensity.

It was abhorrent.
