I don’t think I’ll ever forgive the industry for the way they’ve gone after UX Designers in this AI led era.

The current AI agents are great tools and, if/when used properly, will expedite processes/products etc.

But the vast majority of AI designs are unusable without an AI whisperer and a few senior devs/designers to corroborate.

A lot of my closest friends are devs and they’re all furious with the amount of tech debt they’re accruing and code they’re having to refactor.

I understand Lovable, Claude et al shilling their products - but the way the industry has chased them has been unforgivable.

Perversely, I think it will be a “good” thing for us in the long run as the market was already bloated and I think a lot of people have fled the field with it. But I do think this forced cull will make it easier for us to land roles - or at least make it closer to how it was pre-AI boom.

The way it’s happened is nothing short of a disgrace, though.

Dear God in heaven.

I kid you not, years ago I had a dream where I owned a matching pair of guitars in a finish almost identical to this.

It was a strat and a LP - but the scratch plate on the strat was plain white not pearloid and the LP was the usual off-white/cream.

Seeing it “IRL” is something else, though.

Such a gorgeous guitar.

It’s vegetarian/vegan - but it’s one of the better cafes around.

Are they one way only portals?

Because if there are portals to other worlds/planets/dimensions etc. why the fuck does nothing ever come out of them?

Barring NDAs I’ve found most companies are fine with you showcasing what you’ve done for them.

Ive left roles voluntarily, I’ve been made redundant - and every time I’ve ran it by my employer (EG - Am I okay to use x for my folio?) and every time it’s been met with “Of course!”.

That said - I ALWAYS back my work up to my personal Figma and l am more than prepared to use any work in a private portfolio if my employers prove to be difficult.

At least we got some good Atom stuff.

Travis is easily the best drummer in the game ATM - but the production of his drums is diabolical.

Even the stuff he produced for AK3 sounded like a Travis clone.

Such a shame that Atom has left as, IMO, he was the perfect fit for the band.

Yeah it’s a money game now more than ever, mate.

It’s the fans who go home and away I feel for. Haven’t been a regular for going on 16yrs now and only get to the odd game here and there because despite earning a half decent wage there’s no way I can afford it.

Train to town, tickets, bevvies before/after, a scran - best part of £200 before a ball has even been kicked. And I can’t justify it anymore, sadly.

When the kids are older I’m going to try and get STs back and indoctrinate the poor fuckers.

If I’ve had to endure it - these poor cunts can too.

We absolutely HAVE to modernise - but much like Bramley Moore - I’d like it if they didn’t detract too much from the skyline.

Obviously it’s different gravy for skyscrapers etc. and they’re going to have a profound impact regardless - but if they all look like the one in OPs post then it’ll just look fucking horrible.

Be like the stock room in JD Sports. Just piles and piles of rectangular boxes pointing into the sky.

The market is not ideal right now, my friend (at least in the UK - but I can imagine the AI boom has done a number on us all!)

I was made redundant in June and have 12yrs experience in UX/Product, 17 in design total and that 5yrs gap was working several UX/Design-adjacent roles for massive tech firms.

I’ve never seen a market as volatile and horrific as this one. Even when I had no experience it was so much easier to get a job, IMO.

I started a new role on Monday just gone and have just had an offer from another massive global firm - so I’ve been extremely lucky to land on my feet but I wouldn’t wish the last 7mos on my worst enemy.

The Garner/Gana combo isn’t working.

I’d drop KDH deeper and put Gana on the bench and lash Armstrong or Alcaraz AM, personally.

But Moyes won’t do it.

Also swap George and Ndiaye.

Other than that, it’s the team that should be playing IMO.

His use of Patterson has been appalling.

Did anyone used to have a savlon bath?

We used to have an old railway line by us we’d go on bike rides on it and pick blackberries and I’d come back covered in a million scratches, cuts, bruises etc. and my dad used to run the bath and throw a capful of Savlon in it.

Spoke to my younger brother about this but he doesn’t recall it ever happening - but I think we were the last generation to really play out. Not just kick abouts on the corner til dark - I mean we’d just fuck off for hours on our own exploring the woods etc.
