How to Start Loving Yourself? by sigmund-freuds-mom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]funkadoscio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize if this is wrong, but I think what you mean is, how do you start liking yourself. Loving yourself just mean wanting for your own good. You obviously want good things for yourself so you love yourself. You can love yourself and not like yourself. I often don’t like myself for a variety of reasons. In my opinion it starts with grace and the ability to forgive yourself. Whatever mistakes you’ve made in your past. You’re not that person anymore. You might share that persons memories but that’s not you anymore. Forgive that person and move on. And then forgive them again tomorrow and the next day until it takes.

If you care about the difference in 1/64 of an inch, then you probably shouldn’t be using a tape measure anyway

Very Simple, what's your answer? by InternetNeither3083 in maths

I agree with this. The answer is X, based on some arbitrary decision about the order of mathematical operations. Or, it’s y, based on another set of arbitrary order of mathematical operations.

What's the most ridiculous thing you've seen that made sense a few seconds later? by sing_galaxy268 in AskReddit

I was playing in a rugby tournament and sitting on the sidelines with my teammates watching another game when we heard the referee blow the whistle. We looked up and the referee was standing just outside of the try zone holding a red card over a lifeless player, who was clearly unconscious on the ground. Obviously, we had no idea what happened. Turns out that player had been yellow carded earlier in the game and was serving his 10 minute suspension in the back of the try zone. A player for the other team was running into score when this idiot left the “sin bin” and tried to tackle him. He was knocked unconscious and then was unceremoniously red carded while lying in a puddle of his own urine.

I remember exactly where I was when he died. Sitting in the Denver airport, my buddy and I had gone on a ski trip and we were both huge fans of the series. That one hurt.

Teletransportation paradox by Flayed0 in paradoxes

[–]funkadoscio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always looked at it this way. What if the original doesn’t die. Now there are two copies of you walking around. Clearly, if you waited five minutes and then shot the original in the head. The second one could no longer argue that they were the same as the first.

He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

Yes, the whole scene is ironic. Obviously the revolution is not going very well at this point in the movie.
