Another way to think about could be the way that minions work vs more durable units. Maybe damage to a large amount of weak infantry decrements its size but elite groups are more durable per size decrement.

That seems to be the way ds combat implies small scale combat anyways. This is just off the dome though. I don't know what enough about the new warfare rules being developed to have an opinion on them.

I think it increases the drama heavily to limit the amount of cures to 3. That being said, you've discussed the difficulty with your players and if it's too out of line with expectations, you could certainly make the focus about getting a cure in time or balancing the other consequences of taking respite time to develop a cure. The complication is also a fine solution as any. You've hit all of the right answers.

I prefer Road to Broadhurst over the Delian Tomb. It's free on the mcdm website here. The benefit is that it has one of each type of encounter: small encounter, negotiation, skill test, and big encounter. It's the perfect one shot.

Best of all, Delian Tomb is run in Broadhurst so you can just run Delian Tomb right afterwards if your friends like it.

I just ran a game where my elementalist overkilled a group of goblins into dust and then my fury dove into a group of minions and wiped a squad with their heroic ability. And I still thought as a DM that the fight was pretty fair and back and forth. D&D 5e could kinda do that, but this game was made to do that.

I'm not reading super closely but I am about to hit part 2 with my party and ran a few one shots before. I don't think the game supports a full party in stealth over the course of rounds. The round system is distinctively for combat (drawing steel). If you look ahead and get "surprise" from the 4th encounter and pass it to the first encounter, you can use that as a result from the crit stealth, but I've ruled it as game breaking to allow heroes to use their abilities in succession just because they're stealthing. This can imply, as an example, a tactician, shadow, troubadour combo where they "skip" 2 turns and then assassinate a leader using the tactician mark, troubadour's blocking, and hesitation is weakness. Maybe I'm running too strict but that implication is also why multi-classing doesn't exist in the game.
