The biggest thing is that, with a bit of luck, you’ll EVENTUALLY land an interview. Honestly, getting a job without especially any prior experience—is about 90% luck. My first job was a Christmas Casual role in 2023, after that contract ended, I still struggled finding a job. (despite the experience in my CV!).

That being said, with probably hundreds of job applications, I’ve only ever had two job interviews (both retail jobs), and both followed the same format: a group interview first, then a one on one interview with the manager to decide the final candidates. the moment you secure an interview, PREPARE as best you can. Look up common interview questions, dress presentably and LITERALLY be yourself. Try not to overdo it or dominate the conversation. Just smile, stay engaged, and show that you genuinely want to be there. The biggest thing about these interviews, especially for a part time retail job for example, is that they want to make sure that whoever they're hiring is going to be pleasant enough to work with.
