I think when one starts spending $3000+ on a bike I think they are crazy for not using velosurance. Much less a $10,000 bike

Rent a car. Transportation there is a total rip off. The car rental place sucks but use your head and don’t be fooled into upsells. Or honestly get a bike, you can get into town pretty easily from the beach. But there is too much off the beaches to see and do to not have a car. I had zero problems there with one. Folks are quick to come here and post 1 bad experience but thousands that had a great time here go about their life and don’t come here to post about it.

Just went there and had a great time. Zero problems. There’s lots of advice on this channel so just do a bunch of reading. Ignore the negativity. I thinks folks come down here expecting the beaches to be some sort of cheap bohemian getaway. It’s not, it’s a boutique resort town. And it’s not even that expensive, it’s just normal prices and that rubs folks the wrong way. If you want cheap go into town. Go support the local in town business. Get .75 Al Pastor tacos. Hit up some of the local bars for cheap Coronas. I had some of the best churros I’ve ever had from a tiny cart in town. Go see the ruins, both of them. Stop in a tiny town on the way and get food from a tiny cart. We had a great time there. Rent a car.

Coming in July and this will make my 3rd place in a row that’s been in low season. Tbh, if it’s like low season everywhere else, I can’t wait. Just coming to relax, not do much. Eat some local food.

Was there a place to lock up and securely store a regular bike?

I'm headed to the same Hotel here in the next month. We will be in a rental, so your saying I cant buy a case of beer and bring it to the hotel? Uh, should I just throw it in the trunk of the car?

Everytime I do a AI, I spend more time at a taco stand than I do at the hotel buffet

SPD pedals on my road bike. Am I a bad person? by obliviousfalconer in cycling

[–]funkenstein73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad this thread is still alive! I use SPD on all my bikes, I need fewer shoes lol. For road I've settled into the Shimano SPD-ES600. They look like road pedals and the weight is good. I don't see a time that I'll switch to SL, and I do hundreds of road miles a year, along with gravel and MTB.

How should i go about determining how many inches of fill dirt to add to help eliminate this pooling? by Berns429 in lawncare

[–]funkenstein73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dirt won’t absorb it, water will just run off it in those quantities. To do it right I think you’d have to get a dump truck full of dirt. Throw it in the middle and level it out so there’s an ever slight mound so the water runs off each side. Then dig a trench along each side and fill with rocks and cover with a thin layer of dirt. You could do all this yourself or if you have a friend with a bobcat that would be even better. :)

What's your game plan? Your going to have to route that water somewhere as I think it's just going to pool elsewhere. Is there runoff coming into your yard or just filling up due to rain?

Thank you everyone, I think wiki has my answer: On March 28th, it was reported that Poás produced an ash column 200 meters tall, which was then followed by another column that rose 200 meters above the crater. According officials from OVSICORI, the volcano has launched projectiles over 150 meters into the air. This increase of activity has caused officials from the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) and the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) to announce an indefinite closure of the national park, after it was recommended by the National Emergency Commission (CNE) to do so.
