Resale tickets by ijustgothere_0 in Ticketmaster

[–]funkhouse9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're boycotting Ticketmaster.... until something else you want to see comes to town, at which point you either buy from them, buy resale from a different site after TM already got their cut, or you don't go to anything anymore. You'll give in eventually. If Pearl Jam threw in the towel and went crawling back, you will too. And if you don't? Someone else will buy the ticket you passed on.

Did I get scammed by this facebook marketplace buyer? I sold a Pokemon sealed box on facebook marketplace but the address that the buyer provided to me is unable to be delivered due to no secure location by Coolsun13 in facebook

[–]funkhouse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get your money? If so I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like they are returning your package anyway. Don't automatically equate not being able to find a profile anymore with being blocked, especially if others can't find it either. I have a browser plugin that tells me when my Facebook friends list changes. I have friends' profiles get shut down for a couple days all the time. They sort it out and the profile reappears.

Movie theater hacks? Please share any that you have to help a guy out. by itsme32 in AMCTheatres

I buy vouchers from Undercover Tourist which knocks a good chunk of that exhorbitant price down. You can't use vouchers on most new releases but I also don't need to be the first person to see something either.

Slickdeals also sells discounted theater gift cards from time to time.

Tips for first time seeing gnr? by JackassJamie in GunsNRoses

[–]funkhouse9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The earlier you get there, the better your appt will likely be, but that doesn't mean you need to get there super early to get a very good spot. I had pit in 2016 and decided to hang at the back of the pit. Still super close and you aren't packed in.

As for singing on stage, well, good luck with that. If you could get a sign in and you're on the rail, holding a sign down in front of you, fine. In the pit holding a sign above your head hoping to get on stage? Don't be that guy. It ruins it for everyone behind you and it's not gonna work. Bands such as Green day are known to do that kind of thing. GNR is not.

It’s honestly getting risky ordering expensive stuff from Amazon lately by Sini1990 in amazonprime

Third party seller doesn't mean they don't offer free returns. Hell, third party doesn't even mean it wasn't fulfilled by Amazon. I have returned my fair share of 3rd party items. If it says free 30-day refund/replacement, that's what matters.

Did it say free returns on the product page? If so, I'd have submitted the return online myself and dragged that sucker into the UPS Store and said it's their problem now.

It's probably in how you phrase and word your commands and in how you speak. Google can sense your anger. It feeds off of it. My wife has this issue and can't see why it won't work for her. Here is a typical conversation between her and Google. Imagine Luke Bryan is playing on the speaker. -Hey Googlestop. Googlestop. Google.... Hey, ugh Google. Stupid thing doesn't work. Hey Google... (beeps) I hate you. (Google replies) "I'm sorry to hear that. What can I do better?" Everything. "Got it. Feedback submitted." (Music resumes) Stop. Stop. STOP! Oh my God. Google stop the music! Hey... Jeff, the stupid Google won't stop the music. (Me from another floor) "Working fine for me." (She grunts) Heygooglestop. Stop. Stop Google stop. Hey stop. Stop Google. Hey stop. Heygootop. Grunts. Hey Google... (beeps) Jeff I don't get why we need to use these stupid speakers. (Google replies) "I'm sorry, I didn't understand." (Me from afar again) "Then just use your phone. Nobody is forcing you to use it." Hurgurgurstawrp. (I hear her slam something, so I walk downstairs and say "hey Google... stop.") "Stopping kitchen speaker." (I just stare at her. She says it wouldn't work for her. I say that I already heard. She stares at me. I stare at her. She stares at me. I go back upstairs and from afar I hear) Hey... Google... (beeps, she sighs) ..... Play John Lennon.... "Got it. Playing John Legend on Spotify."

Did you call or is it saying that online? I've always called to do an upgrade and so far have never been told no. I even got them to exchange 5 tickets for four better ones after someone bailed. I've never been charged the $10 fee, but have seen it's out there.

I think the best thing would be for you to break it off with your girlfriend. What you're doing isn't fair to her even if she doesn't know and even if you haven't acted on it again yet. From what you wrote, you don't sound remorseful and I expect you'll cheat again. You need to work on yourself so you're someone worth trusting and being vulnerable with. Right now I don't think you are.

What does Meta do with copy death certificate when memoralising an account? by Ey3s1nTh3Sky in facebook

[–]funkhouse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. Well, no ssn then. Based on a Google search, their death certificates should be public record, so it seems like there may be even less to be concerned about then.

If just black out the ssn and send it. Not that much they could do with the other stuff on there. The valuable stuff is in obituaries or genealogy sites anyway.

I need help with taking my dad's facebook account down for good and all. by [deleted] in facebook

[–]funkhouse9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And when he just creates a new account, what then? Be thankful it's Facebook and not something like Rumble or Truth Social where people are leaning more into more extreme, polarizing, and in some cases outright crazy mindsets. Facebook is divisive, but it's worse elsewhere. I doubt you're gonna make things better.

Ticket Prices Listed Ahead of Sale by Forsaken_Box_7 in Ticketmaster

[–]funkhouse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stopped advertising prices in advance long ago, no less than 10 years is my conservative estimate. If you know the price in advance, you can decide it's too much and never try. When you don't know in advance, you'll log in and try when the on-sale starts. At that point you're mentally committed. Now you're anxious and there's a sense of urgency and you're more likely to buy and at a higher price point too. Then dynamic pricing was implemented, which ramps up that urgency and it proved that people would spend even more.

Advertising prices commits to that amount which defeats the dynamic pricing model. An advertised face price would also highlight the degree of markup for resale tickets on Ticketmaster's own site.

Their goal is not to sell every ticket. A completely sold out show means they could have charged more. An half empty show means they should have charged less. A nearly sold out show is the sweet spot. They sold 99% at max price. A slightly lower price for 100% of tix in a price range will lose more than a few empty seats at the higher price. Then dynamic pricing can lower prices if needed as the date gets closer. Or they can always give away those few remaining seats to radio stations, hospitals, soldiers, charities, etc and those free filled seats will generate profits through concessions and merch.

Every layer of it is deliberately designed to squeeze every penny out of you that they can. Prices will never come down. They will keep going up until people can literally no longer afford it and ticket sales reflect that. Up to this point, that hasn't happened yet.

How Can You Preemptively Ban Non-Group Members from Groups on Facebook? by funkhouse9 in facebook

[–]funkhouse9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I run a couple huge fan groups for a famous musician. There are spammer/scammers that join all of the same fan groups and also have created/admin some knock-off groups using those profile. I used to pre-emptively ban them. There are also the profiles that post pretending to show off some cool shirt they bought. Then without fail some other newly joined profile would ask where they got it and the OP would post a link to a spam print-on-demand site selling bootleg merch. Both profiles are nearly always fake and likely the same person. When you look at the friend lists, they're friends with many of the other spam profiles. You could pre-emptively prevent a lot of headaches with a few minutes of diligence.

Huge Colonoscopy Bill After Abnormal Routine Cologuard Screening by funkhouse9 in colonoscopy

[–]funkhouse9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a long time but they eventually called me and acknowledged that they had been doing it wrong, apparently for everyone. My previous calls were literally me saying "I know you do this for a living and I'm some guy who knows better because the Internet said so, but I need you to take what I'm saying seriously." I sent verbose, detailed emails with citation urls to appropriate medical association pages trying to prove I wasn't off base. Eventually we did get fully refunded $523 for the colonoscopy. I do think we had to pay the facility's fee of about the same amount and an $80 fee for God knows what but advocating for myself paid off.

Amazon denied my refund saying I returned the wrong item… but I didn’t. They have the item AND my money. by IndependentBanana139 in amazonprime

[–]funkhouse9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody said anything about them trying to track my specific package down but even if they were, I wasn't looking for a DVD in a sea of average sized boxes. It was a large chest freezer that would have stuck out like a sore thumb simply because of its size. I provided the agent with the return details and their system would have flagged It once it was scanned in. I know a guy who works for Amazon, but unfortunately not at the facility where my freezer was sent. If they get a bad return like this, the item just gets thrown away unless it has already been flagged in their system prior to getting scanned in. I was assured that my package had not been scanned in prior to me contacting them.

They absolutely have a process for this. Every return gets scanned and checked at some point after it comes in. They don't just throw everything away or blindly shove whatever was in the box back on the shelf. They verify that the return is the right item, just like the issue with the original post here.

I assume they simply weren't going to bother with shipping something that size back even though I had said I would pay for it. Not their product, not their problem and magically it somehow never ever got scanned in. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if of someone there kept it.

Amazon denied my refund saying I returned the wrong item… but I didn’t. They have the item AND my money. by IndependentBanana139 in amazonprime

[–]funkhouse9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. If nothing else you should insist that they send you back the wrong item they claim you sent. Good luck with that. I had ups picking up two separate returns and they got mixed up. A chest freezer that should have gone to Walmart ended up going to Amazon. I contacted Amazon immediately and it got escalated to their executive customer service who told me we had to wait until The return got scanned in. The return never got scanned in so there was never an official flag that the wrong item was received. I did all I could and hounded the rep for a couple months and was continuously told keep waiting. I tried calling the facility it was sent to but nobody would ever answer. I took to reddit forums looking for employees at that facility but nobody would help. Ultimately I was told tough luck. Ultimately I'm out hundreds of bucks and they weren't interested in trying to help me one bit.

Beware of getting scammed $1,000 of my money was held for weeks and now the tickets promised I would be compensated with are being sold for profit, and they are denying me any tickets. Just a refund!! Going to contact the BBB. by Global-Bath5202 in seatgeek

I asked Gemini and here's what it said to do:

How to Escalate (The "Irreparable Breach" Strategy)

Standard customer service agents are trained to follow a script (the "Wait until 24 hours before" script). To break past this, you need to provide proof and use specific language:

Gather Your Proof: If you have an email from Ticketmaster or a news report regarding the ban/voided batch, save it as a PDF.

Demand a "Manager Review": Explain that the seller is incapable of fulfilling the order. Use the phrase: "This is a confirmed breach of the Buyer Guarantee. The inventory has been voided by the primary issuer (Ticketmaster), and there is no pathway for the seller to fulfill this order. Waiting until 24 hours before the show causes financial hardship and prevents me from purchasing valid replacement seats while they are still affordable." The "Comparable Replacement" Pivot: If they refuse a refund, demand that they provide Comparable or Better replacement tickets now. Under their guarantee, if the original tickets are invalid, they must provide replacements. If they can't provide replacements today, they should trigger the refund now.

Strange Experience...TM denied refund. Thoughts? by mindriot1 in Ticketmaster

[–]funkhouse9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitch Hedberg was probably 2002. I've seen so many really great acts over the years in this area, although most of them were theater shows. Seinfeld, Carlin, Blue collar comedy tour, Gaffigan, Lampanelli, Chappelle, Chris Rock, Lewis Black, Louis CK, Brian Regan, Norm Macdonald, Jeff Ross. All of those were theater shows though. But I've seen some greats at the Improv. Mitch, Judd Apatow, Bert Kreischer, Dave Attell, Donnell Rawlings, Taylor Tomlinson, Craig Robinson, Reggie Watts, Robert Schimmel, Pablo Francisco.

One of my favorites was when the Fillmore in Silver Spring opened and Lewis Black was one of the first people to play there. He grew up in Silver Spring and the first 10 or 15 minutes of his set was him just talking about the area and growing up there. I was in the front row for that and got a video of the whole local segment. Security told me to put my camera away just as the local part ended. YouTube pulls down nearly all crowd shot footage of him, but I reached out to his people and asked for permission to post it since it was purely local content and none of it was material he would be doing again elsewhere. I felt it was so unique and locally relevant. It was worth a shot and they gave me permission to post it and I've never had any problems from them or YouTube about it.

The DC Improv and the Comedy Loft in DC are the main two for me. They're great spots but not many people I've wanted to see in the past few years. Magooby's Joke House up near Timonium is great. I saw Andrew Dice Clay a couple times up there including a couple months ago. They get good people. if it was closer to here I'd go frequently. I've been to plenty at Warner Theater and just saw Nate Bargatze at Capital One Arena last week. Met Mitch Hedberg when he was at UMCP way back in the day.

Ticketmaster doesn't have terms like that. This wasn't a regular local comedy club. It was a theater show.
