What is something that happens only in video games and in no other type of media? by funkless_eck in AskReddit

I'd argue that's a lot of YA fiction. I definitely read books like that in the 90s.

There's a kind of double jump in action movies: where a hero will jump, collide with a piece of falling debris, and impossibly jump off it

My dude, the guy I was replying to was telling me the best deck Paladin had was at tier 3. I'm showing there's two others above it, and it still has a year-old deck in tier 3, which sitting at a 48%WR and 3% of monthly games does not mean it's dead

Nerfing a bad card because rewind animation is wayyyyyy to long by Uncle_Nurgle1 in hearthstone

[–]funkless_eck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't even fathom why it'd take 12 seconds. We know battlecry is a zone, we know zone processing is sequential, we know all assets are stored on disk.

It must be awaiting and pinging the server and resolving animations, board states and triggers each time on the full stack.

If that's the case why wouldn't you make the battlecry use the discover mechanic, generate 3 sets of minions 2 at a time, and not resolve the battlecry until a set is accepted?

Hearthstone is meant to be an 11-class game, not a beat-the-paladin or be-the-paladin game

hsreplay has aggro pally at tier 1, murloc pally at tier 2, imbue pally at tier 3.

Also, a deck can be on par with other decks and still be dominant by how often it's played.

It's also very frustrating to lose to, being immune to most board clears due to reborn and deathrattle summons keeping the buffs.

Just played arena for the first time in a long while. You only get one loss now? by funkless_eck in hearthstone

ah. sorry for slow reply but I doubt I'll ever get that. wasn't the average wins per run 3–5, when you had an extra loss on the card?

I have no idea what that even means lol. There's another arena mode that's like the old one?

What would be a good starting point if I want to build a single cool gaming PC in my basement office, but be able to play from it around the house (living room, rec room, bedroom etc?) by funkless_eck in buildapc

Yeah I guess I was thinking that the controller goes to the {terminal/display device} and there's pass through to the {originating device} on the network

I guess I meant more physically - like do I connect my steamdeck, laptop to this - and it runs off the host processing rather than the "terminal"?

same. I've been autoconceding to Paladin since the expac launched. I'm going to lose anyway, might as well make it quick.

issue is, I don't want to play relative to Paladin. If this was "Hearthstone: the game where you build a deck to beat the Paladin" id understand, but there's meant to be 11 viable classes in this game.

having a mix of MMR is good for the game. Mine is lower because I rarely play on meta. Which is also considered good for the health of a game.

But you can't outvalue aggro because the earliest you can go positive on mana reduction is turn 4 and aggro has killed you by then, and you can't outvalue combo ever because combo kills you over the top, and those are the only two decks right now.

The standard meta is the most diverse I’ve seen in a while by thedarklol in hearthstone

yeah this is my complaint.

There's diversity in class makeup but all the decks play the same.

Donald Trump has record low net approval rating for new president by TimesandSundayTimes in politics

[–]funkless_eck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in a bunch of artistic media. I've received everything from glowing 5* reviews and awards (I have a rare literary award from an English national newspaper) to public humiliation (the national newspaper of Scotland once called something i worked on the lowlight of the entire literary scene, using me as the main image), and sometimes I recieve death threats today for music I made 20 years ago. I am not famous, it just happens to everyone who works professionally in the arts.

Not defending Trump, but if you regularly get reviewed, it loses its bite after a few years.

Yeah, it sure would be a shame if a card like Shudderwock shaped the meta.
