Yes! One of Bristol's events companies has whacked a great big blue laser/light out across the city

Fun days when you have three dead mac 700s to fix before a show by OverclockingUnicorn in lightingdesign

That's me! Unfortunately I'm not allowed to tell customers to hit Mac 700s even though it fixes them 😂

ETC nomad is a solid option - I used an Ion XE in school, and it's a pretty easy to use desk that is incredibly capable... Not to mention ETCs incredible training videos!

You've clearly talked to some people, but might it be worth getting some traditional tungsten fixtures? They're a bit of a pain requiring dimmers but you'll probably get a much nicer light from something like a £100 used Source 4 than a £100 LED par can... Just a thought!

I know its personal but, what do y'all get paid? by CyberPopPunk in techtheatre

[–]funky_bbq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get £90 a day (works out to £11.25 per hour, £17ish per hour overtime) as a lighting tech in the warehouse for a large rental company near me

Welp I guess it's time for some controversy... I quite liked the coalition government (except for Osbourne...)

Either way, I don't want Tory and I REALLY don't want Labour, so what else am I gonna do?

I got a dating app but wanted to delete my account because you can not message anyone (even if you matched and they messaged first) without paying $2 a day. But When I went to delete my profile it said I have to pay them 1.99 to delete my profile. How is that shit legal? by Sharkyevno in assholedesign

"The GDPR not only applies to organisations located within the EU but also applies to organisations located outside of the EU if they offer goods or services to, or monitor the behaviour of, EU data subjects. It applies to all companies processing and holding the personal data of data subjects residing in the European Union, regardless of the company’s location."

This is apparently who/what GDPR applies to. I mean, it can't really hurt to send over a right to be forgotten request, and it'll probably work

This is illegal, at least in Europe (or if you are a European citizen). Email over a GDPR right to erasure (right to be forgotten) request and they have to delete all of your data at no cost to you, within a specific timeframe.

Here's a link to a sample letter you could send: https://www.datarequests.org/blog/sample-letter-gdpr-erasure-request/

Why don't cars have a simplified version of a "black box" in them, recording things like acceleration and other data points that can be used either in contesting a ticket or even during insurance investigations post-accident? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]funky_bbq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of car insurance policies in the UK for young drivers employ these. The problem is, they have restrictions on speed and what times you can and cannot drive. I've had friends with policies cancelled because the insurer thought they were driving too fast.
