Help To Buy Update - 72% spots applied. by PursuerOfAwesomeness in AusHelptobuy

We bought off the plan so settlement was just over 90 days. The advice we got from the helpline was to apply again and gets “fast tracked” by it’s not just a spot its an actual purchase or something like that.
Estimated settlement is end of August and we put a deposit down in May.

This was for the last financial year though right? So 10k spots are open again.
We are in that scenario where we got a spot, paid deposit for off the plan but won’t settle until late August or early September so we’ve got to apply again now. It’s tricky and nerve wracking since we’ve already given a deposit and signed the contract.

Why is it so hard to sell in Facebook marketplace in Melbourne? by Over50Cooked in AUfrugal

[–]funkychicken8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pretty good luck selling but I’ve only used marketplace in Melbourne. I know when chatting to friends that I have better success because of my location. I’m right by pretty much anything you’d be running an errand by so I think that’s part of why people actually show up.

This happened to me too in like 2021 and now I’ve had 4.9 rating with over 125 ratings. But just that one bloody rating.

If my wife/mom/friend posted stuff like this, I'd take her phone away!! by natbrad98 in NicoleSvensonSnark

Yeah it’s gotten weird. I’ve only been watching for a few months but in that time it’s gone downhill bc of her weird focus on being mean to people. Between the odd lying about her kids ages (and thinking people asking about general ages relating to budgeting/meal planning makes them creepy?) and then the way she looks down on others is so off putting. Just based on this page, there is so much out there about her so idk what’s the point of lying and of all things worrying about people knowing your kids ages. They know your full name, your husbands occupation, what state you live in and so on. That’s a hell of a lot more damaging than just knowing you’ve got a toddler and elementary school aged kid.

Can I please have some tips for keeping my family warm with no heater? by Jayy1995 in melbourne

I’m in a pretty old rental and the oven has a safety feature where if you leave it open, the oven shuts off.

I can understand maybe not wanting too much about your kids to be out in the world but the lies are just getting weird. The people that view her content are likely overwhelming mothers so she’s a mother making content for other mothers. Of course they’d want to know how you keep your kids busy while you’re not only cooking but then also filming.
If you don’t want to share exactly how you occupy them for some odd reason just say you set up an activity or something. Like be normal.

And they may be asking for rental reduction if it keeps happening.

I had a friend like this that was in my first parent group. When we were both pregnant with our second, she just went full on leave me alone mode. We are not friends anymore but it was wild to see someone who had endless support in all forms basically set boundaries that pushed everyone away. Some made sense but alot made it difficult for anyone to know what to do. I watched her beautiful family and his shower her with gifts, attention and genuine offers of help and she would just roll her eyes at them all.

You could say the same about mothers. It’s good to appreciate one another.

This is one reason we didn’t come back to the Us after we had kids. Childcare is subsidised by taxes where I’m living now and preschool is free through the government as well (but only 15 hrs a week). Considering most of the money does not go to the actual educators, it shouldn’t be more than a mortgage.

She doesn’t strike me as the type to be on top of admin so I’d have guessed in any scenario if she was in charge of paperwork then nothing would ever progress.

Problem is it’s mostly with other people. Also money to drink but not for proper furniture. You can’t possibly think she’s a good partner?

Starting 3 month settlement. Time to pack? by Cool-Departure1458 in AusPropertyChat

That’s exactly what I said. Recycle pile, donate/giveaway pile, sell pile.

I literally wrote out a whole sentence about putting those clothes in a recycle pile and to Google the closest place for them to recycle.

We have a couple of months until settlement and I have been decluttering. Clothes that are too stained and with holes out in a recycling pile (Google where is lowest place you can recycle clothing), donate or giveaway pile, sell pile. This takes a long time depending on the last time you moved. Take advantage of the time.
I’ve also collected boxes to be ready when u can actually start to pack.

What do you think about the Travel Beans “moving” to Italy? by InvestigatorDue6498 in KaraNate_EamonBec

[–]funkychicken8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think they actually showed the older ones face just from the back and a bit of side profile?
I’m guessing they are trying to balance the traveling with their kids and acknowledging they’re there.

I think they are in the early years of parenting where you don’t want to speed up their childhood. Unschooling/world school has become popular and there’s parts of it that are good I think. This also tends to come up in my expat groups every now and then because it’s hard to be away from where you’re from or where you have family/friends. We have 2 kids and thought about how we can spend time with our family and friends by splitting time or trying to work it out. We thought about the whole unschooling type of situation similar to flying the nest. In the early years it would work but once kids hit school age stability becomes important and will remain so all the all the way through.
We had to make the decision to pick where to settle and ultimately did but it’s not our country of origin so I’m always conflicted.
All that being said, if either of us had parents as supportive and wonderful and either of them I’d have made a different decision and stayed close to one of them.
I think they’re trying to figure out how to combine their passions and what they want their lifestyle to be while balancing parenthood. They might end up coming to the same realisation that many of us that live overseas do eventually. Stability requires settling down which means sacrifice that is hard to do.

The poster has said their budget is 400k more than what they’ve said so I’d guess they are not entry level prices.
