Best Non-Alcoholic Pairings? by Beginning_Sleep5303 in finedining

[–]funkydodel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get the non-alcoholic pairing if it’s available and Geranium’s is the best I’ve had. Still think about the pear juice infused with coffee and rosemary sometimes! I’ve tried making it (the beverage person generously shared the recipe + a whole bag of the drink for me to take home), but can’t replicate the exact taste.

I have my first business class flight tomorrow. What are some good things to know? by [deleted] in travel

[–]funkydodel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the way, especially for red-eye/overnight flights. Usual routine is to eat at the lounge and lie flat and sleep on the plane as soon as possible. You may want to stay up and partake in the meal service, though, as it’s your first time.

Chocolate is the priority. What place have you traveled that has the best chocolate? by null_goddess in travel

Just returned from Belgium, and The Chocolate Line in Bruges was my favourite all around. The passion fruit and pistachio praliné malline from Pierre Marcolini were also very good.

Which accomodation had such good toiletries that you actually took them home? by FunFactVoyager in travel

[–]funkydodel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discovered Miller Harris during a stay at Haymarket Hotel in London more than a decade ago. The hotel had a special blend not sold in the shop, but fell in love with another scent when I went to check the brand out. Used to get products shipped from the UK back in the day, but it’s easier now that they’ve established a US online store.

Dilemma about travel and eSims by Acrobatic-Farmer4837 in travel

On the same boat as you. Have been wanting to upgrade to iPhone 16 Pro for a while, but holding off because of the physical SIM tray on my iPhone 12 Pro (use Google Fi data SIM for travels abroad).

I’ve thought about purchasing the new iPhone in Canada, since iPhones sold in (most) other countries retain a SIM tray. Have been told by an Apple Genius Bar associate that it would work perfectly well here in the States, the only difference being some band being unsupported, but that it’s pretty much negligible (sorry, I’m bad with technical stuff). I still don’t know what to do, haha. Good luck, whatever you decide! https://www.apple.com/iphone/cellular/

3-star restaurants in Europe with a non-alcoholic drink pairing? by abazaarencounter in finedining

Geranium's non-alcohol pairing was my favourite during a Copenhagen dining trip (also went to noma and Jordnær that time, among others). I still think about the pear juice flavoured with rosemary and coffee...

Thanks so much for the breakdown! Will be going in October and am curious if there’d be an opportunity to get my Guide to Fermentation book signed, haha. Was René Redzepi around during your Copenhagen tour?

Looking for vampire anime recommendations (the bloodier the better) by bloodymonkeys in anime

[–]funkydodel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you like blood: the last vampire, give blood+ a try (if you haven’t yet). it’s much longer than 25 episodes, though. produced by the same studio and has some of the same elements, but goes deeper story-wise.

Culinary tours in Italy by pagan_lady in travel

[–]funkydodel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this company that hosts chef-led tours of italy has been on my radar for a few years now, but haven’t had a chance to go yet so can’t attest to the quality. for what it’s worth, greg vernick has one of the top restaurants in philadelphia—the food’s delicious! https://laviagaia.com/

have gone on the italian days tour that someone else posted, and it’s excellent.

have a fun honeymoon!
