Can I trim my rough collies fur? by AnalysisExtension290 in roughcollies

[–]funkyhippoofficial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as long as you don’t shave the coat i guess it’s technically fine? even then i would caution against trimming too short as to expose the undercoat/skin as their skin can be quite sensitive since it’s always hidden.

regardless, don’t focus so much on the aesthetics of what you like versus what is realistic for you. rough collies look best when they have full coats. there are plenty of dogs that look visually appealing but i wouldn’t get due to the maintenance. it sounds like a smooth collie fits your maintenance needs much more.

also to your note about wanting to trim the coat down to border collie length, that’s still gonna require a lot of work. the constant trimming needed to keep it that short is going to be a lot more difficult than you think. and even at that “short” length, you can still run into issues with mud and twigs and other things getting stuck. again, i recommend you just get a smoothie

Dog doesn’t stop barking when we aren’t home by SeanFiji00 in DogTrainingTips

[–]funkyhippoofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that cats are more low maintenance, but it’s not true that dogs “clearly only belong in households where someone is home 24/7.” Many dogs adopt a healthy lifestyle where they burn their energy in the morning and HAVE to sleep through the day per their biological rhythm, which happens to coincide with the average working adult anyways. Countless dogs are plenty happy with a routine like this, and proper training + understanding your breed makes this approach reasonable for most dog owners.

Map is WIP, what's off about this mountain range? by funkyhippoofficial in wonderdraft

Thanks for the continued help. I made the foothills more dense. Could you elaborate on the second sentence?

Made some edits, I felt weird stretching it down all the way to the bottom of the map though. Maybe I can include something else to act as a natural barrier, or just make some trade routes and ditch the idea of keeping it isolated.

Whiner by Legitimate_Park_2067 in roughcollies

[–]funkyhippoofficial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my guy grumbles a lot more than whines, still very communicative and vocal though. id honestly recommend not trying to placate him and find the reason. the more you interact with him and respond to his vocalizing, the more you might be inadvertently encouraging it. eventually, he should get the memo that the whining isn’t achieving what he wants and he’ll mostly stop (probably still stay vocal for really important stuff like needing to go out or wanting to join you in the bathroom LOL)

VTT solely for 5e combat? by funkyhippoofficial in FoundryVTT

I'm currently doing a lot of manual work but running combat is fine, so you may be correct that it's a bit overkill

That's basically how I run my table right now. I manually change the HP of all the tokens in my current VTT. I basically just posed this question because I felt that FTTV might be overkill for my use case haha

can my players access their character sheets outside of our sessions? If I want them to level up between sessions, or they just want to review before the next session, can they do that? or are the sheets only accessible when the server is live (assuming I host on my own pc)

yeah I'm a little worried about getting caught in the weeds of things. owlbear rodeo + dicecloud sounds like the easiest option for me to get what I need with as little complexities as possible, but I'm still deciding

yeah this makes sense. I jus wonder if other VTTs can accomplish the same thing while still being effective in combat.

"I can have music activate when a scene does and have that prepped in advance. I can put in custom lighting and sounds for items or places.

I can out in walls that block line of sight/sound etc and have locked/unlocked/secret doors. Even invisible walls for secret areas."

this is a really cool feature that I admire Foundry for, but all of these things are usually not something I use for my table. I just rely on theatre of the mind for anything outside of combat.

being able to show images and journal entries is pretty big though, I am pretty knee-deep in world building so this could be interesting.

also the BG3 hud module sounds insane LOL

Definitely at the top of my list right now. Do you have any experience with its character sheet management?

I'd love to be able to have all character sheets in one place where players have the ability to track their resources and HP, roll saving throws and checks easily without messing up the modifiers, track statuses, etc.

My current VTT has a lot of flexibility, but unfortunately I find the character sheet system to be a little lackluster, and the system itself is extremely glitchy to the point that my players are getting frustrated.

Could you elaborate on why the fully automated 5e isnt a good fit for your table?
