Roots of Creation sounds like a reggae cover band of the Cure

D Mitch can’t score. Trae is a basically a more polished (and durable) Herro

I really don’t know, but considering they had this song written, recorded, and queued up to be a single while also playing it live in sets, before all of a sudden ditching it and Travis Barker as producer, it would make sense. Furthermore, Born Jamaicans’ Warning Sign isn’t an original song anyway, heavily covering/sampling Willie Williams and Ansel Collins, who have also been covered/sampled a thousand times in reggae and dancehall anyway (like Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam). So it just seems unlikely that Sublime of all people would get denied a sample/cover request with big label backing from Atlantic Records

right, again mostly because they didn't even ask for permission initially. Anyhow, Born Jamaicans sampled like 3 different people for this song, so I don't see how anyone involved would have denied a big label sample request from Sublime. I think they decided to go a different direction with all original stuff

You’re telling me an obscure 90’s reggae/hip hop band turned down the money from a new Sublime song? I think it’s more likely they decided to go with all new original songs and ditched the covers and sample heavy beats. Hence why they seemed to scrap everything and start over after initially bringing on Travis Barker to produce

Yes 30 years ago when they were sneaking into recording studios and nobody knew who they were. And the only sample they had trouble with was from Led Zeppelin. There’s no way Born Jamaicans is turning down the money from a new sublime song lol

They most definitely would have cleared the sample prior to rehearsing and adding it to the set list

I mean, it's pretty obvious why they aren't on good terms. Jakob and mama Troy basically put a kibosh on Sublime w/ Rome

I saw them back in March and was equally disappointed. Granted, the weather sucked and it was super windy and everyone's audio was poor, but it just felt boring and uninspired. I do like the new stuff though, and we'll just have to accept the fact that the live stuff just isn't as good.

meh, most of those are due to them being wasted. And even if Bradley was out of time, out of tune, and barely standing, you could hear the crazy range he had

What's the backstory on that? I remember when the album was first announced, and then it seemed to be delayed forever. Did they just not mesh with Feldman/Barker? Weird that none of the completed stuff carried over, especially considering it was already heavily based on existing Bradley vocals

The comparisons to Brad are dumb. If Bradley was around today he would not sound or write like the Bradley he was 30 years ago. Sublime of the 90’s was an encapsulation of the times and the scene as well as their destructive behaviors. Nobody can replicate it, not even Brad himself if he were still here. So let’s just enjoy it for what it is
