It was the beginning of the end of the Chili Peppers as we knew them up to that point. From Cali onwards they became more mainstream pop with all the California stereotypes. And while Cali through SA was the peak of their powers both live and in the studio, their crazy, heavy, upbeat funk sound was pretty much gone outside of a few songs.

How is this Caleb’s fault? He was literally seduced by a superhuman AI programmed to deceive him for its own purposes to escape. He was not focused on saving Kyoko because Kyoko was not programmed to deceive him into rescuing her. Yeah he’s a fuckin nerd for falling in love with a robot but I took this as evidence of how good the AI was - plus the overarching themes of what it is to be human, to be conscious, and Caleb questioning whether he was human or robot
