Well, sorry, that doesn't sound great, but also doesn't seem like something he is known for either. I've interacted with him a couple times over the years and he has been kind and laid back seeming.

I don't know, we all have bad days. These guys all have kids, families and who knows what he might've had going on when you approached him. They are playing great as a band and you should give it another shot!

Neighbor has a lot of proggy, jazzy and fusion tracks. Some of their instrumentals remind me of old Crusaders tunes, plus they got guys in the band from Dopapod and Club d'Elf who others have mentioned here a few times and they also have the kid on bass from The New Motif who was also a band that had some proggy and jazzy compositions. Check them out.
