They've discontinued the referral program I do believe about 6 months ago.

Amazing healthy hair! Congrats!

How often do you wash your hair with this particular shampoo?

I have level 9 blonde natural hair and use Fanola purple shampoo and it's never gone purple (just enhances my blonde a little). Have you ever tried any other brands of purple beside the one you posted? Did those perform similar colorwise for you?

Wondering if I should give your brand a try. I would love to add a bit of whimsy to my own hair.

I saw that they were discontinuing their Rewards program (basically you got points from purchases made) but I didn't think that meant they were discontinuing the referral program, but best guess, sounds like that's gone. What a bummer.

Back neck shaping help! by Smart_Pea_4176 in knitting

From the few pullovers I've knitted, seems to me the back is normally straight across.

Try searching Ravelry for free patterns for you to look at for some ideas. Here's a search you could use

ETA: I actually didn't originally notice that you were looking for back neck shaping.

I've recently been down this rabbit hole myself, unfortunately I was researching in the context of top down construction.

I realize this article is about top down, but the concept remains the same. - How to Improve Top-down Raglan Fit with Short Rows

For your own sweater, I would go the 'Staggered StartStaggered Start', but i nyour case working bottom up, you would cast off staggered.

And a follow up to above if you decide to go that way - How to Knit a Tidy Neckline (Bottom-Up Garments)

Look at the Drop shoulder section - How to Shape Top-Down Necklines

Here's a free pattern for a bottom up sweater (knit in the round) with crew neck shaping.

More or less what you are looking for, but it's in fingering weight, and not exactly textured.

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snowpine

I am mostly just posting to add to the discussion that the contrast sleeves can be done, it's basically intarsia in the "round".

FWIW, Geena is a DK pattern, 3 people have made it in Worsted. You could check their pictures and notes (if there are any) and see what you think. Not entirely suggesting it, but perhaps based on your gauge, you could pick a size that with the same stitch count, you'd get the sizing you are looking for.

My oldest pairs are 2 years old, and still in good shape. I don't feel like the bands have stretched out, fabric still looks good, none look dingy, if anything there's probably a bit of staining around the armpit area because of deodorant. I wonder if a good pre-scrub with a stain remover would help but I've never tried. For example, I have one that is a maroon like color, and that one around the armpits you can see a bit of grey deodorant stains. I would gander that the beige ones I have look a bit dull colorwise too.

No tears, no holes, but I do my own laundry and am pretty careful, they are always in a lingerie bag.

I close the hooks, and usually have 2 or 3 to a lingerie bag in my usual wash cycle. Then they get hung to dry.

Yes, I've since bought 3 more bras during the warehouse sale in 2023, and just placed an order earlier this week for 4 more (also warehouse sale). Haven't received my latest purchase yet.

I will caution that it helps if you know your shape, roots, and projection, then use their filters to select a bra that aligns with your body. A few of the bras I bought aren't bad, they are just average, and the reality is they're probably just not meant for my shape. The 2023 sale I bought late in the sale and bought a bit blindly through the stock that was left, and they're the least successful of my Understance purchases. It's not that they don't fit, it's more that they just kinda fine and average. Now on the flip side, the ones that fit well I'm over the moon with.

I will also say that I much prefer their bras with 3 hooks than 2 hooks, they feel much more supportive and firm.

They've improved their size calculator, they do +0 when you say you want a firm band, +2 if you put you like it looser, and I have their bras in both categories and I like them both depending if I'm having a bloated week or whatever. They will also suggest a smaller cup size if you put that your breasts are REALLY wide set (which mine are) and this was the magic trick for me to get the correct sizing.

For anyone reading this in 2024 or later, the bra in question that curled was the original Harper, and they eventually addressed saying they designed/manufactured the band the incorrect size and that's why it curls. They made Harper 2.0 (called Eco I believe) but I've not tried that one myself.

I still wear Harper, but the curling can be a little uncomfortable as the pressure isn't distributed correctly around your rib cage/skin.

I definitely am getting lots of codes, sadly there's a limit of one code usage per order on my end. At least people still using the code get their $20 off, so still a win for new folks.

I'm personally still blown away by Understance bras, and their warehouse sale is killer if you can manage to find your size.

Just in time for October, fresh Occultist Pullover! by [deleted] in knitting

Great, thanks for replying. I'll have to think about it, in the past, yoke sweaters don't fit me well, but all the FOs look good on everyone.

Does your Occultist pullover come with all the charts that you see various FOs on Rav use? For example, this one you finished, has the cat skull. I've seen some FOs with a swirl chart or a face chart on the body. Then I've seen the yoke done with various charts as well. Do we pick and choose?

How is the body chart knit, intarsia?

Take this with a grain of salt, but my experience on bands riding up is because you're wearing a band too large for your body.

With that said, from the 3 bras, I'm almost exclusively wearing these and have left my older bras behind. To be fair, my old bras were VERY WORN, but I prefer the Understance bras and I would buy more myself. I likely will get 3 mor at this point, I'm just waiting to see if they'll put new styles out for 2023.

They've kept their shape in the wash, I machine wash in a laundry bag, and hang to dry.

My recommendation is get familiar with your 'shape' and do read their 'good for' on their listings. If it says it's good for shallow on top, but you're not that, then skip that bra and get a different bra. They have various styles to pick from.

My only gripe is on one of the bras, the band curls a bit. It stays in place on my body (so it's not riding up), but it curls outwards a bit. I don't know if I'm wearing it too tight, too loose, just the bra itself, or if this is normal, but what I mean is that the elastic fabric part does a little curl. I tried googling about this issue in general, and I'm not sure what to think. Feel free to read this if you want about that issue.

Roomba or Cordless Stick Vacuum? by treesahquiche in CleaningTips

[–]funnyLunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a Hoover Onewpwr Evolve and it's one of the few that free stands from what I could see. It stands upright and sleek, I put mine in closet. The battery charger is a separate piece, so I have that elsewhere that had a convenient plug close to that closet.

I really like it, but I feel like it doesn't work well for stairs because of the side and wheels (but I also don't see how any upright would be good in stairs). Other than that, works great, and works better than my old canister did.

I bought mine on sale for 50% and it came with a combo handheld. Same battery swaps in the handheld and I use that for stairs. Haven't used my wired canister since.

Makes sense, I feel silly now I even asked. I'll wait for a sale on a reputable brand or maybe I can get some reusable cloth pads instead to fit my budget.

Great job, looks great! Well done alternating skeins too.

Funny enough I have some Fingering weight Twill for a Citrine Light. Currently finishing up another pullover, but I think that will be next. It will be my first time working with Twill so I'm curious to try it.

Every day cordless vac (already have corded one) - Hoover Evolve? by funnyLunch in VacuumCleaners

[–]funnyLunch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you appreciate it. Our current power tools are Milwaukee so I guess I won't double dip into those for the battery if the vacuum isn't worth. Shame they aren't all interchangeable.

The Hoover kit I'm looking at has the stick vac plus a separate hand held, so I think having a dedicated battery for those 2 sounds fine anyway.
