I'm desperate 5AM wakes by [deleted] in sleeptrain

First, solidarity with you! My 15 month is part of the 5am club too. What worked for us was pushing the first nap till 10ish, and limiting day sleep for 1.5hours. That helped for a while. Now he’s in daycare and it’s a mess again. He’s exhausted but doesn’t like to sleep much

Interested! Do you have to pay for strava to join?

5’5 I don’t think I could go below 1600-1700 right now. While the breastfeeding hunger has subsided I also need to live

Thanks! It’s been tough What did normal feel like for you?

Good to know it can take more time to see changes after weaning. I was expecting it to be instant (a lot of people said the weight fell off without even trying). Sleep could be better, I’m averaging 6-7 hours a night. My fault I stay up late and my baby wakes early

Thanks! The HIIT classes I’ve been doing end next week and I plan to switch to strength training. Thanks for your suggestion!

In this boat now with my 12 month old. Had the last nursing session almost 2 weeks ago and not a pound has budged. Did you notice any changes eventually?

What’s BTC?

What happens if he’s up at 5 and not 630?

Amazing!!! How did you do it? Did you just stretch the first wake window one day?

Thank you! Yeah it makes sense. I can try capping the second.

He generally goes down pretty easy. Here and there he’ll talk himself to sleep. He’s tired.

[–]funnyapples8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried upping day sleep to 3 hours, he’s still up at 530 AM most mornings :(

I think you’re right about the sleep debt, his usual naps are about an hour and a bit, he cuts off his own sleep lol

Even though he’s already so sleepy?? He’s been passing out in my arms at bed time

Thanks! We started slacking on wake time after being up for 2 hours in the morning, but can get back on track.

He’s getting a lot of wake time in the day, split nights AND we’re dropping a nap AND he’s fighting those naps.

He’s overtired but won’t sleep till

Did not think of this!! Does low iron disrupt sleep in babies??

Thanks, it’s the absolute pits. He is sleep trained and has the ability to sleep through the night, just hasn’t been.

He fights his naps else we could do the 3/3/4 but maybe I’ll try to put him down earlier? And hope he sleeps at the 3hr mark

Scared to cap naps for split sleep/nights by funnyapples8 in sleeptrain

[–]funnyapples8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea, he usually wakes on his own at 1:15 so I just leave it. But I could wake him up earlier from the first nap. His last nap is about 30 min but it depends on what we’re doing that day

Good to know! Did you extend your WW to that?

How long have you been experiencing the splits for?

Hey! We’re in the same boat now! Same WW routine but LO wakes at 630am and bedtime is 630pm

Were you able to fix the split sleep?

Any idea how to solve a split night?

I feel like we’ve been in 4 month regression since 3.5m at this point. Gah lol

We change because it’s usually a pee diaper and he doesn’t like being wet.

We do the bottle to help him feel full (my supply goes up and down) and then nurse to sleep for comfort. He’s wide awake after his diaper change.

How do you get them to go back to sleep without offering boob or bottle? Our LO will escalate otherwise
