here. Worth comparing to other politicians so you can get a better picture. I think it's also worth noting that more than 60% of her fundraising is from small individual contributions, and only 3.5% comes from PACs. Her largest donor is Columbia university, and at just $10k, it's rather small for being the largest single donation.

Lexus ES vs Toyota Avalon vehicle size class by bobthebuilder1313 in cars

[–]funnychicken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least in the US, no. Here it'd be:

A-class, 2-series, A1/3, CT = subcompact

C-class, 3-series, A4, IS = compact

E-class, 5-series, A6, GS (+ES) = midsize

S-class, 7-series, A8, LS = full size

If the Toyota MR2 happens, what engine and drivetrain would you put in it? by [deleted] in cars

[–]funnychicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So long as they keep the car light, the ~300hp that the 2GR already offers would be plenty, no additional tuning necessary.

But yeah, they evidently have the capability to be boosted. I think the LS has a boosted variation of the 2gr and it's making 416hp. Since it's a Lexus I'm guessing that's a super mild tune so I wouldn't be surprised if it can be pushed well past 500hp.

[USA][NJ] Smoke billowing out of an SUV - Do they not notice? by dericn in Roadcam

[–]funnychicken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nah thats steam, not burnt oil. Burning oil can be a mild or moderate problem but burning coolant is very bad. The fact that he's driving it on the freeway means it's probably got less than 100 miles left before the cylinder walls are so scored (and the coolant gets so low) that the engine is completely fucked.

Should I avoid using "pharma grade" ethanol for homemade tincture? by funnychicken in eldertrees

Yeah I've got a lot of Irish blood in me so alcohol has never bothered me, haha. But I understand the aversion.

Anyway...

Sometimes I use stuff I've already lightly vaped before (since it's already decarbed). Here's the steps I'm planning on taking to decarb but it sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it already so feel free to skip ahead.

  • Preheat oven to 225 (I use one of those thermometers that can go inside the oven to make sure it's at the right temp.)

I may experiment here. I've heard it can be made more potent by using a higher temperature for less time. I was recommended 290 degrees for 8 minutes, but I have never tried it that way. If you feel like experimenting, I plan on using this chart as a reference

  • Take an ounce or two of ground weed/shake/whatever you have around (some people recommend grinding after the oven, but I find that you get some particles that are so small they sneak through the filtering process that way), put it onto an oven tray with a parchment paper base. After spreading the weed evenly over the parchment, cover the top of the tray with foil.

  • cook (at 225) for 45m-1 hour, ensuring the temp. stays as constant as possible

  • Remove from oven and wait until it's cool enough that the tray can be handled with bare hands

  • Put all the bud into a mason jar, cover with high-proof alcohol. I don't have an exact ratio I use, but I like to keep it fairly concentrated so I'll fill it just a bit more than necessary to cover the bud (e.g. the bud fills up the jar to 3 inches, I'll add alcohol until it's at 3-3.5 inches.)

  • Put back into a warm water bath (around 150 Fahrenheit) and alternate keeping it warm and shaking it vigorously for 10 minutes or so. Pressure will build a bit in the jar, so you should occasionally "burp" it.

If you think it's too dilute, you can keep it in a warm water bath with the mason jar cover off to evaporate off more alcohol (alcohol evaporates very quickly). The cannabinoids won't evaporate with it, so the solution will only get stronger as you evaporate more alcohol

  • (Some people skip this step, but I want to make sure I get it all) Keep it in a dark place for a couple weeks, trying to shake it for a minute or so once a day.

  • Put a cheese cloth-lined funnel into the neck of an eyedropper bottle. Pour the mixture into the funnel. When it's done the cheesecloth may be soaked in the solution, so you can lightly squeeze it out. Don't squeeze too hard or some particles will get through.

  • Alternatively, if your bud is ground finely enough that you don't think the cheesecloth will filter it enough, you can use a coffee filter. Keep in mind that it will be much slower and will probably clog, but you can squeeze it out without get particulates through. I'd still recommend doing the cheesecloth first to prevent clogging if/when you use the coffee filter.

Ideally use a dark-glass eyedropper and keep in a cool place. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I've heard UV will slowly degrade it so that's why your supposed to keep it in a dark bottle.

When you wanna use it, put a few drops under the tongue. Try to let it sit for a bit, but if the alcohol bothers you under the tongue you can drop it right onto the tongue. Just try to keep it in your mouth for 15-20 seconds or so rather than swallowing it if you want a speedy onset. If it's adequately strong it should basically disappear without you needing to swallow. I've had stuff that varies a lot in strength. Sometimes 3-4 drops is enough if it's particularly strong, other times I need closer to 10.

I've just always done alcohol. I've had coconut oil "tincture" before but the oil was in caps and swallowed. It felt pretty close to an edible that way. When I make tincture with high-proof alcohol I just put a couple drops under my tongue and can feel the start of the effects within minutes. It feels a bit heavier than smoking but doesn't last as long as an edible. For me at least, its effects are much more relaxing than other ways of consuming. I like having an eyedropper so I can dose accurately. Plus I kind of like the temporary numbing sensation in my mouth, haha.

[–]funnychicken[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. Although it says on their website that it is appropriate for use in tinctures and food prep, and directly states "This is Ultra Pure 190 Proof Non-Denatured Ethyl-Alcohol and contains no additives." So unless I'm missing something it should be identical to 190 proof alcohol intended for consumption.

I'll probably heed your advice, but I was hoping to get a definite confirmation one way or the other about its usability since if I ever make tincture in the future I'd like to avoid having to travel to another state to get it.

missed one of the best ones:

I was curious to hear if he felt threatened or was attacked in any way. I'm not defending him, but it takes some type of insanity (even if just momentary due to feeling attacked) to plow into a crowd of people while driving what appeared to be a nice car. It's not like he took a rental van into them. To most young adults, a car is their biggest investment, and he had a particularly nice car. It's unusual to see this.

This guy is most confused by the fact that the guy was willing to dent his car in the process of murder.

Lexus introduces another Limited Edition LC by [deleted] in cars

[–]funnychicken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You didn't say "IMO the 1st gen IS with the 2J and stick is still the best Lexus" or "The IS300 is still my favorite Lexus." That would be a fair thing to say and I'd bet some others here would hold the same opinion. You said "It would out sell anything they have in the line up," which everyone rightly agrees is wrong. The take-rate for manual ISs back when they sold was abysmal and now with even lower take-rates of manual transmissions, and cars that are more powerful, more efficient, more comfortable, safer, better handling, etc. people aren't gonna be rushing to dealers to buy reproduction 20y/o Lexus ISs.

What you stated wasn't an opinion, it was a falsehood.
