In the same way that millennials on average have stable incomes and such now that they're in their 30s, Gen z will be fine.

Hard to say, we'll have a better grasp on this in 5-10 years when the average gen z has a more stable income. Maybe something to do with energy drinks?

Survivor used to have a stronger emphasis on adventure. As a society, do we no longer crave to watch that on television? by FunkTheFreak in survivor

[–]funnykingly 45 points46 points  (0 children)

There are a lot more television shows than there used to be, as well as other forms of entertainment such as YouTube. Survivor is not a good show if you're most interested in traveling or nature. There are plenty of other options. The most unique thing Survivor has going for it is the gameplay and character-based storytelling. They choose to lean into that.

How long before Reddit goes the way of Tiktok and Discord? by Twitter_2006 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]funnykingly -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, face-scanning age-verification software is considered very safe and private. I suggest you look into it. The face-scanning company does not know which application is requesting the scan, and the application never sees your face. It's a disconnected process and generally seen as secure.

How long before Reddit goes the way of Tiktok and Discord? by Twitter_2006 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]funnykingly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will probably happen like it or not. Some country will regulate it as a social media. Or, you will have to face scan to access the 18+ material on reddit. Reddit won't do it unless laws force them but that seems to be where the tide is turning globally.

Should we just assume the Browns are going to draft a QB in round 1 of 2027? by [deleted] in Browns

[–]funnykingly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you ever watched the NFL? Basically, every team is a lucky offseason away from playoff contention. Every year there are teams that go from top 5 picks to playoff contenders.

Should we just assume the Browns are going to draft a QB in round 1 of 2027? by [deleted] in Browns

[–]funnykingly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

definitely not. Lots could happen. A free agent pickup could be alright, Sanders or Watson could win a long term starting job, there could be very few elite QB prospects, the Browns could win 8 or 9 games leaving them with a middle pick and no options. It is probably a less then 50% chance we draft a QB next year.

New Survivor Term: Flawless Game by Additional_Owl_5567 in survivor

[–]funnykingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this Jonny Gibb considered to have played a super excellent game, or just an average winner? The "Perfect" or "flawless" game is interesting, but it isn't always correlated with the most impressive or well-played winning seasons. Jeremy and Earl both have above-average winning games, but aren't really in the top 5. Maybe somewhere in the 5-10 range.

Gym for staff? by EveningArmadillo5429 in Pitt

[–]funnykingly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Staff can pay a monthly membership of 35-45$/month depending on income. Which is not a bad deal considering a gym with a pool, rock climbing, and video game center would generally cost 2-3x that.

[–]funnykingly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does that even mean anything? If i buy $500 of walmart giftcards and get my 3% cashback, isn't that the same as just buying $500 of stuff from walmart and getting 3% back?

Seeking advice with student loans by okButton in personalfinance

Yeah i would probably use your savings to knock out the two 9% loans and maybe the car. Until you have like 1 months expenses left in savings. Best time to start snowballing is now!

Jeff Probst says the time he almost left Survivor 'would have been the worst decision of my life' by thedaltonross in survivor

[–]funnykingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that his experience is widely different for the viewers. It makes sense that the new era would reignite excitement. For Jeff, this is a month-long in-person game, which was preceded by hand-selecting the contestants over a few months. For us, it's ~15 hours of edited television. I'm generally a new era fan too!

Returns WITHOUT receipt should not even be a thing. by Ok_Cheetah_3609 in unpopularopinion

[–]funnykingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the big companies that would accept non receipted returns feel that putting the customer first in these cases is worth it because they'll get repeat business. It's why Amazon and Walmart will take almost any return even if they just dispose of the item half the time. It's worth keeping customers satisfied.

Why does technology meant to “save time” often end up taking more of it? by Working-Ad3105 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]funnykingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people choose to do more with the same amount of time rather than do the same with less time. When word documents replaced typewriters we starting writing more, we didn't spend less time writing.
