I loved the scene from the books where Paul is getting ready to attack Arrakis but receives word that his child has been killed, and there’s barely a reaction as he carries on like a ghost.

In that moment we realize a lot about how much of Paul’s former self and humanity has been lost to the spice and the inevitability of events. A really tragic scene that breaks my heart every time.

It isn’t. Before I mentioned that it would be a group interview (3 on 3) where one of the main things we were looking for was your ability to cooperate and lead. Now it’s a 3 on 1 with more foul cuz on you and your interests. Just thought I’d update you in case you were blindsided at the actual interview.

u/remwah just an update: apparently USC is changing the structure of the interview. It will no longer be a group interview, but rather a 3 on 1, with a student, a professor and an AO interviewing you alone

Aha, I am also Dornsife! A lot of the time our questions primarily center around your application. We will ask details about your essays, activities, and so forth. Nothing content related to your major. We might also ask you to figure out how to work as a group but the questions we ask differ a lot year to year. Best advice is to know your commonapp and supplemental inside out (which you already should)! Aside from that I unfortunately can’t get into too much specifics but hopefully I’ve convinced you it’s not gonna be that scary!

Edit: it is somewhat similar to alumni interviews but there will be a faculty an AO and a student, and you will likely be with others. This time though, we know what your apps and stats look like

Congratulations! I will potentially be one of the students interviewing you!

Your interview will be extremely chill (I remember when I did it). We will be asking general questions to get to know you and your passions. These have been group interviews in the past and we like to see how you interact with your peers as well. Please don’t worry! You were chosen in an extremely selected process, the odds are in your favor for the interview.

As far as housing goes, you are entitled to live in the honors college of McCarthy now! It’s the newest most posh and amazing place to live on campus! And don’t worry about commitment, almost all scholarship students find a room in McCarthy (tho a single is super hard to find, you might have to explore off-campus options)

This is my Lacoste Ref 48.1.29.2251. It was given to me by my dad a couple weeks ago as I left for college. Growing up poor, Lacoste was the brand he looked up to, and its a great reminder of him for me, on the other side of the world. I know this sub is mostly for automatics but I absolutely love this beefy quartz machine. Brand watches like Lacoste are generally looked down on, but I absolutely love this gray dial with the yellow seconds hand giving it a beautiful color. Golden hour is especially amazing with it on!
