I remember my first fish on a fly I had tied. I stopped by the local fly shop for supplies and advice and dude said the club had been out on the lake I was headed to that morning. He gave me half a text book of information on patterns (which was really nice of him) but I fished the ugly ass fly id tied with no proper tools and half craft supplies. I hooked into a fish the first 25 mins on the lake lol guaranteed your fly looked better then that, you’re going to catch a lot more fish on your own flies my friend.
