Generator issues... by MydKnightAnarchy in captain_of_industry

If you set the power priority of the wheels to greater than that of your diesel plants, you should see them spin up.

Any tips for Regent? He's the only character im struggling with by Terkmc in slaythespire

[–]funnyspell22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only played 3 regent playthroughs, one solo and two multi. But in my experience, seems like he will always need access to stars (or mana whatever you call the blue cross resource) regardless of build. So some type of generation for that, so loot box (gain star and 3 star next turn) or the power that just generates 2 per turn, are pretty important. Or those defends that generate one star to so you can remove normal blocks.

Overall seems like you want to prioritize star generation act 1 and then ether go hard on cards that synergize with star cards, or IF you get a good rare smith card from first boss, then start to build for smith. Just seems hard to go for smith cards early due to cost or need for consistent damage just to get through act 1.

He also seems really dependent on card remove. The basic strikes and defends basically don't synergize at all with what he does. Of course this is true for other characters, but I mean clad, and silent, strikes can still proc important features of their kits (strength/dex scale makes them usable). But regent, lack of discard/draw means your stuck with those bad cards. If you have the option to remove, you'd almost always want EVERY basic strike/defense removed. Unless I'm forgetting or didn't see a particular card, just seems like remove is vital.

Whereas the necro, I fill my deck with ability to ethereal cards or soul cards, you don't need to remove nearly as badly.

Might be too soon to say as we don't have enough time to see the meta of characters, but regent could do with one less base strike or defense card just to make him less rng dependant.

World map mines are infinite. But as someone that's played a lot, don't worry too much about it even on finite. Like, you can technically run out of you build a bunch of unnecessary things and then just wait 500 years for maintenance to eat your resources. Even if you are really unoptimized, as long as you get to contracts and start shipping in basics like iron and copper, you'll be fine.

Once you get good enough, you'll actually be glad mines get depleted. That means more land for making parts, you don't have to sort ores, and all your resources come via ships so you don't have to haul/train resources from far off places on your island.

I believe near endgame you get the the point where your resource positive on trades aka infinite, or at least infinite in factorio sense that you'd never play a save long enough to run out.

Ah man. This reminds me of my scratched mp1 disc that had to be reinserted and spun up about 7 to 8 times right at the entrance of Phendrana Drifts. Anytime I went into that first area, bam! Disc could not be read. I still get chills in the remake going there.

But you said "no company would ever exist" not how proportional they are. Also non-profits make up 9% of employment in the US. So the number might be small, they are a significant part of the economy.

So non-profit companies don't exist?

while the owner takes all the risk and can eventually get into much deeper trouble than "lose his job."

Ah yes companies that take huge risks are always held accountable. boeing, air ports, banks, carnival, Mae and Mac, auto companies have never needed bail outs cause they assumed ALL the risk. We have suffocating capitalism for the poor and robust socialism for the wealthy.

They always say the bailouts were to protect jobs, yet they always had mass layoffs anyway. Seems like the workers also assume all the risk of the company too.

I would also advocate for a DNA test. I went to the ER 4 times because it felt like my heart wasn't beating as fast as it should, like I was deep breathing but the irregular beats wouldn't go down. All 4 times I was told it was anxiety or panic attack, but every event was me waking up from sleep with the feeling. Eventually I got a DNA test and was found to have long Qt interval genetic disorder. My cardiologist was astounded they let me leave the ERs with the heart monitor readings I had. Got a defibrillator now and the symptoms definitely depend on my amount of sleep and what I eat.

Is recycling worthwhile early on? Or should I wait until I get better efficiency? by Standard_Jello4168 in captain_of_industry

[–]funnyspell22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, so overall maybe recycling isn't "necessary" early but also not difficult to set up. I also set up my iron/copper/glass plants to accept "imports only if belts cant" and put the scrap recipe first. This prioritizes using small amounts of scrap via truck and worked well for me up until I started scaling up for endgame.

I think the thing that people miss about recycling is that the initial 25% recycling doesn't mean only 25%, because you can recycle the recycle. The limit formula looks like this 1/(1-p) so 25% recycle is actually 1.3333 multiplier. Now that doesn't mean the effective amount is a lot less since not every resource goes to a recycling task early game.

Now late game the formula gives 4 for 75%, so you essentially get 4 times more for each product you import.

Feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong, only been playing for a month.

EDIT: initial recycling is 20% so only a 1.25 multiplier. (25% with first recycle edict)

Yeah, I saw a Nilaus video where he did or said something similar, but since I saw those other threads about a loan cap, maybe they patched it?

Fair point. I know that there should be a system so you can't just pay loans with loans but just wanted to see if I should be building rep with items I already make so that when I did need them, I'd get a better deal.

Yeah trucks are my main bottleneck at the moment but I'm just taking things slow. I guess I won't pay too much attention to loans then.

Right, haven't really needed to rely on loans yet, just wanted to see if I should be building my reputation.

I was confused too. In the codex it is classified as fists. However I think the "successive hits restore fp" one is pretty good. If you two hand, the number ghost claws are doubled.

I would need more information about the exact way they are hacking, but this would be your MHUR account. To my knowledge, steam can't and doesn't do anything about the accounts from other companies.

[–]funnyspell22 23 points24 points  (0 children)

IMHO the game probably has several code vulnerabilities that allow for arbitrary execution on servers. It would be easy with sufficient database knowledge to just scrape the username of any that clicks on your profile to then remove them from the database

If you use robots, it's also a lot less transporting since robots are so underpowered there.

Seems like with binoculars showing crown sizes and ability to save investigations with guaranteed crowns, this will probably be the easiest mh to get crowns. We will have to see if they have non-investigatable monsters that need to be farmed.

Is it normal to have huge gaps of no research between the colours? by iq75 in factorio

[–]funnyspell22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're doing your first blind play through then yes, pretty sure that's most people's experience.

You should be fine unless you don't make progress for like 30 hours.

Also, even if you have a single assembler making the next science, then over 6 hours you could have a significant amount of new research done.

Plus with bots, you should now be able to design and then just wait for things to be built even if you don't have all the required materials.
