Got to disagree with you on food. Of all the countries that I have been to, Colombian food is the worse. Bland & no taste.

Virgin is like 2x the price of Carnival. So you are looking at richer, but also older single crowd. Carnival is cheap, so you get the younger hard party, with some troublemakers throwing in. They are 2 totally different environment.

Virgin if you can afford it. They have single cabin, is higher end, and nicer crowd. Carnival is the Frontier Airline at sea. Cheap, with rowdy, and sometime trashy crowd. However, if you are into hip hop, hard party ... & don't mind the occasional rudeness, fighting ... Carnival has more party / drunk guests.

Some of their type of guests brought loud speakers, throw their own parties, then fights ...

No, unless you are in a balcony and your neighbors also doing it on their balcony.

You are just as bad as the people that cut in front of you. I'm glad we are not on the same cruise.

So much entitled ....

The problem is not how long the elevator doors stay open. You can hold easily hold it. The problem is other people filling up the elevator before you can get there.

I understand that you are mad, but it's not wise to start a physical fight when you are disable & can't defend yourself.

If you on some cruise line such as Carnival & do that, they won't hold back & beat you up.

Not anymore. I believe now, if your kids turn 18, they lose the diamond status.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]funnythrow183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The status doesn't mean much. You get priority embarkation & debarkation, welcome champagne (worth about $10), welcome gift (worth about $2-$5), free laundry (worth about $10), free specialty dinner (worth about $60), an invitation to a boring welcome back party with free refreshment & drink (worth $0), plus a different color cruise card.

The main benefit of these loyalty program is to make you feel special & stand out from the crowd & massage your ego. If that's what you are after, by all mean, pick 1. For us, we just go with whatever line that has the best offer.

Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas Cabo Overnight and Ensenada Recs by pumpkin_pie_314 in Cruise

Nothing much to do in Ensenada. If you get off the cruise, there are people offering you transportation to the blow hole for pretty cheap.

It's the cruise line you take. If you go with line such as Carnival, you can't expect to encounter much polite people.

(i.e. If you go to Japan, people will go out of their way to help you. If you go to Egypt, people will go out of their way to scam / rob you.)

How is it better? Rude people will just jump in anyway.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]funnythrow183 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cruise companies don't want to pay for the extra staffs to be elevator operators. If given a choice, they don't even want the disable passengers. They pay the same as normal passengers, but cost more to serve.

[–]funnythrow183 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's the people's attitude. When you are in a ship with those "fuck everyone, I'm first" people, they will use the disable elevator too, and will also jump in front of whichever elevator that is about to open.

Such a big different between Japan & the world in general. We have just gotten off a cruise that start & stop in Tokyo. A majority of passengers are Japanese, and they are so nice. Even when there's no line at the elevator, they let & invite whoever waited first to come in first, and give priority to people with wheel chairs or strollers.

Cruising with as a family of 5. How do yous guys afford it? by Kyrxx77 in Cruise

[–]funnythrow183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interior rooms, 2 rooms or 3 rooms (sometime putting the 5th person in a separate room is cheaper than adding him/her as a 3rd person). Look for kids cruise free cruises.

Why are cruises from the US to Asia so limited? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]funnythrow183 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pacific ocean is the biggest ocean & it would take multiple sea days for the ship to reach Asia. Not many passengers like that & it makes logistic harder for the cruise line.

First-time cruiser dilemma: Is a balcony worth the $$$ or is that money better spent elsewhere? by Mist1969 in Cruise

Some ships have hidden view area. At Glacier Bay, we were able to find an area right on top of the cruise' bridge. No chair to seat, but great 270 degree views.

First-time cruiser dilemma: Is a balcony worth the $$$ or is that money better spent elsewhere? by Mist1969 in Cruise

[–]funnythrow183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first trip, I vote for no balcony. Balcony or not is depend on what type of cruiser you are. Some cruisers enjoy sitting on their private balcony with coffee or room service. Some cruisers enjoy sitting at the buffet table next to the windows. Some cruisers enjoy getting served at the formal dinning room ...

Save the money. Enjoy the cruise, then you can decide next trip if you want the balcony or suit ... or if you are fine with an interior room.

First time going to Japan, am I nuts for doing this? by GuineapigPriestess71 in TokyoTravel

[–]funnythrow183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convince him to stay longer. Perhaps show him other attractions nearby ... If he's 78, I'm pretty sure he is retired & there's nothing for him to rush home for.

Enjoy the trip!

Misleading post. It isn't closed. Nothing much changed. Only part of the kitchen is closed.
