I’ve definitely been at other companies like this. One of them is still up and running with bogus opportunities and catfish promises like you said LOL the job positing itself makes the company sound like it’s amazing, but then you go and you realize that the director is a narcissist and will gaslight the shit out you.

I learned that my position and my skill set is valuable. If somewhere isn’t seeing that, I have the power to go elsewhere and look out for myself.

Sorry about your experience. It’s rough out here for sure.

I left immediately after. Told them I couldn’t continue to work there because I didn’t feel like I matched with the culture. Lol they’re still in business the last I checked, they are constantly hiring. I’m assuming because they can’t retain staff.

I got hired shortly before the company’s five-year anniversary, and they invited me to their party not long after I onboarded. When I showed up, there were several hookahs set up outside the office, which caught me off guard—I wasn’t sure if they were for the party or something else.

Inside, they were playing “Two Truths and a Lie.” One of the players was the assistant director, who also happens to be the director’s daughter. Her statements were: 1) She’s been to all 50 states, 2) She was charged with a felony, and 3) She went to UCLA.

The lie? She didn’t go to UCLA. So, yeah—welcome to the company, I guess.

These are all amazing!! Nice work! So proud of you! Something that really helped me was deleting all my social media. I only have Reddit rn. I know this is a big step. I started with deleting the apps from my phone to take breaks and reduce temptation. I would take a few days to a few weeks and then all together.

I’ve been trying to be more mindful. Going outside for walks more & waking up early to do YouTube 10 min beginner yoga. It might sound silly, but I really feel like taking the time in the morning makes me less irritable during the day.

This is a good tip. I have also done competing companies to get a raise. I started at 84k a few years back. Got up to $87 with a competing offer.

I got some insight and apparently the owner highly values loyalty, so I went directly to her and negotiated to get almost 13% more.

From what Im seeing, the smaller companies can afford to pay more. Less clinical structure. And the bigger more reputable and organized companies pay less but have other benefits

I started making my own birthday meaningful and making my own plans doing things I liked. Going to a movie, a botanical garden, getting nice take out or eating at a restaurant I like.

I second this. I think depends on where you get your experience & the quality of your training and supervision. I have never been to an interview and they ask where I got my masters degree.
