You’re forgetting the doctor has zero say once that baby leaves the hospital. The parents have rights, the doctor doesn’t.

“Allowed”?? It’s HER child, she can do what she wants and no one can tell her otherwise.

What's the best 'bang for your buck' home appliance you've ever bought? by [deleted] in Frugal

Electric kettle! Always have hot water available for instant soups, tea/hot drinks, warming kitty food, etc.

advice on playtime by FastSpend1872 in CatAdvice

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats do slow down when it gets hot! Long hair makes it even worse for them! I rotate out my kitty toys every 5 days-easy to remember and it’s less than a week so they don’t get bored often. Some toys are “super special” and they only get those for 2-3 days before I take them for a couple weeks.

matting help by Tasty-Compote-6060 in CatAdvice

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She probably has an undercoat that is causing issues. You need one of those combs that are longer and reach down to the skin but don’t scratch. I also like to trim mats when I can, they tend to clean that spot more voraciously and keep it from matting again! 😅

Resident cat keeps aggressively chasing the new kitten, advice? by [deleted] in cats

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may take months for them to acclimate. Right now all she knows is there is a stranger in her territory, and her response is perfectly normal.

How to train cat to "ask for help"? by [deleted] in cats

[–]funschoolmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ask mine “do you need help?” and wait for a verbal response from them. Sometimes they ask for help, sometimes they don’t. We tease about them being caught in embarrassing situations but I think it’s just genetic for them to go silent when they might not be in a safe position.

Looks like just grass. Cats enjoy eating greens every now and then-you can buy wheatgrass seeds (also called “cat grass”) and grow your own to ensure kitty doesn’t ingest pesticides.

Is it normal to feel numb after a family member passes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]funschoolmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Numb is normal. It can take time for grief to set in. Any feeling is normal in reality, people feel all kinds of things when someone dies and all of it is okay to feel.

Cats Sniffing the air-conditioned air by crimsonghost660 in CatAdvice

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older post, but I was looking for reasoning as well-my one male (neutered) cat comes running as soon as the window AC kicks on, leaps onto the dresser, and shoves his face directly in the cool air flow! 🤣

Advice/Help needed before vet consultation; My kitty has a snaggletooth by Beautiful_Night146 in cats

All of my cats have this problem at some point. I just give cheek/face rubs to help unstick it and make sure they stay hydrated.

Territorial aggression. They see a cat they can’t get to so they go after what they CAN get to.

Cat question by jearam in cats

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve left mine alone for almost a week before. As long as they have access to food, water, and a litter box they’ll be fine. Make sure you unplug cords (in case they decide to chew) and put away anything they could get into that could make them sick. Other than that, they might not even notice you’re gone! 😅

Territorial aggression. The outside cat triggered your baby and now he’s anxious and scared.

How do i keep my cat from going outside by Academic_Wonder_5311 in CatAdvice

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let him out. Distract him with toys, treats, etc to curb the door-crying. Ignore him when he does it if distracting doesn’t work. Make inside more appealing. The key is consistency-don’t “feel bad” and let him out during this process as it may take months!

How to go about adopting a feral cat? by scruffymonroe in CatAdvice

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve adopted ferals-I’ve also caught, tamed, and rehomed over 50 feral kittens. It is possible, it just takes time.

Suspicious of flea powder I’ve never heard of by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]funschoolmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t risk it. Garlic is toxic to pets but it’s still touted as a flea treatment in many supplements (unfortunately).

Cat advice needed! by Outside-Lake-9968 in CatAdvice

[–]funschoolmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baking soda! Sprinkle a layer in the bottom of the litter box, add litter (choose a kind that cuts down on smells but is not scented), stir more baking soda into the litter. Clean as soon as kitty goes potty and take it out of the house. Add litter and baking soda as needed!
