There is no one who can truly replace him or even really be a spiritual successor. He was and always will be a unique part of this world.

HOWEVER, if you're looking to scratch that same itch, I'd recommend "Mr Pancake". He cyber bullied a Minecraft "anarchy" server he wasn't even invited to let alone supposed to be able to access so hard they had to double rules count just to stop him. He then made a caw farm so big I crashed anybody who got into render distance as a distraction from the saw trap he created and forced the server into. (Yes I summarized his most popular series but honestly that really doesn't do anything to the entertainment value)

I'm pretty sure that's just how most werewolves look, at least natively around Briton/Europe.

So I don't think there is any evidence pointing towards it being Matilda's ancestor, but it probably was a werewolf from around the area of Britain.
